Just got Roadbuster today, and he’s pretty cool! I still think the HA is the best representation of the design, but this one pulls off both modes (particularly vehicle mode) really well.

I won’t be able to fully paint him for a while since I don’t have green paint and I’m busy working on Sentinel, but I did go over a lot of the parts with gunmetal real quick earlier. I also borrowed some guns from DOTM Topspin to help arm him up!

Speaking of Topspin, these two look really good together in vehicle mode!

Glad to have another Autobot in the ranks, now bring on SS Topspin and Leadfoot! And Dino . . . and Que. . .

Given the apparent willingness to change the altmodes when lack of licensing forces their hands, we may actually get Dino after all. Unless Ferrari decide to be Animated Sentinel Prime-tier jerks.

Just to be sure it's clear.
The article claims that the armored, crestless head in the render at the top is the finalized head design, when this form of the head is the only one that actually appears in the ROTF movie. I have double-checked.

I look at this, and I like it overall... I am pick and choose when it comes to SS series.

The more I look at it I think to myself that this is what movie Starscream should've been...Then again I prefer the Bumblebee models so much more than the Bayverse models. :michaelbay:

It's different in Japan as I don't think they counted exclusives like SS Thundercracker

TakaraTomy didn't release exclusives outside of Retro Rock Garage, VW Bumblebee from the Then and Now set, and Drift with the Baby Dinobots; all were numbered SS-EX.

The numbering for the upcoming Hasbro releases are:

#62: Soundwave
#63: Autobot Topspin
#64: Cliffjumper
#65: Blitzwing
#66: Constructicon Overload

Note: I use "#" to separate Hasbro numbering from the "SS-##" TakaraTomy one.

I watched a youtube video that speculated that the Studio Series Line is going to expand to figures based on Transformers the Movie... Specifically mentioning Grimlock (with a Wheelie). I know lots of people hate G1, but is there any truth to this, or even substantiated rumor about this?

It's not so much hate as just absolutely tired of everything having to be G1, when there's other 6 main generations to explore. On their own, I love the G1 designs. In context, I despise that everything has to be about those designs all the time, specially in the last 8 years or so. G1 already has the WFC Line, and has had the Prime trilogy before that, and that's not counting the Classics/Universe reinterpretations of G1 that came even earlier than that. So some of us are pretty miffed that what seemed to be a little corner away from G1 is getting G1-ified too.

But yes, a Studio Series listing was leaked with the name "Leader '86 Grimlock and Wheelie", and a "Deluxe '86 Gnaw"

Hopefully the packaging will be branded to set them apart as a subline...

How well has Studio Series been shifting, compared to the lingering SIEGE figures and the Earthrise figures they're tripping up the distribution of?

Studio Series is selling pretty well by me (Chicago area), with the exception of helicopter Dropkick who still lingers at a few stores, but even those stores are stocking new waves around them. They are even selling enough that I have found earlier releases that must have been stuck in a warehouse and passed over until recently, which tells me the warehouse is emptying out enough that the older cases are being pushed through.

I had a feeling. I'm suspecting these figures are being put in Studio Series to make use of the available shelf space.

Probably also to pad out the Studio Series line somewhat, keep it from getting to the end of doable movieverse characters too quickly.

Takara Tomy Twitter Shows New Images of Studio Series Skipjack

Postby ZeroWolf » Sat Jul 04, 2020 7:18 pm

Motto: "My past no longer binds my future..."
Weapon: Battle Blades
Greetings Seibertronians! Fellow Seibertron user, -WonkoTheSane-, has let us know that Takara Tomy's official twitter feed has just released two new photos of the forthcoming Transformers Studio Series voyager, Skipjack! Skipjack is a yellow redeco of Rampage who was one of the first constructicons released in the Studio Series line. He retains full combining ability, meaning that when he is released, you can give your Studio Series Devastator a yellow leg if you wished. Or alternatively, you can leave Rampage combined and have Skipjack on his own.

One of the photos released has Skipjack and Rampage side by side to show you the differences.

Will you be picking up Skipjack to go along with the other Studio Series Constructicons? Do you want him just on his own? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

I think I’ll be picking up Skipjack, I like that it breaks up the red more on Devastator (although I kind of wish I had gotten Rampage to recreate his fight with Bee in ROTF).

No, color is it. But the color is important, since the bulldozer who's part of Devy in the movie was yellow.

Ideally, Rampage would have been a separate mold (or at least a heavy retool) that didn't combine (and thus, didn't make the sacrifices necessary for the combined mode).
