Thing is, Rodimus' camper shell isn't nearly as big as Optimus' or Magnus' trailers and his battle platform isn't nearly as elaborate (in fact, it's about as elaborate as ER Leader Optimus' is). He also only has his gun and the Matrix of Leadership as accessories. I think Rodimus as a Voyager-ish base figure + camper shell battle platform is well within the limits of the Leader pricepoint.Nemesis Primal wrote:Of these, I'm still only interested in Jazz, so I am quite keen on seeing a proper reveal for him this Friday and seeing what else they have in store. Blurr has never really appealed to me as a character, and Grim's too Sunbow for my tastes and comes with a Wheelie I don't want.
Of note regarding the Rodimus discourse: one of the credible TFW sources outright said Rodimus is the Commander as of this morning during discussion of this leak. All the credible rumors I've seen surrounding Commander Class Rodimus have pegged him as being exactly what you yourself put forth as what ER Optimus should/could have been at this pricepoint: still a Voyager-ish base figure, but with a full-size fleshed-out trailer and a large collection of accessories.ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:@D-Max Commander Class Rodimus is also just wild speculation, unless I've missed something. It would be oversize, Leader would be better. We need a Leader Roddy, and a Voyager Wreck-Gar.
Yay!Nemesis Primal wrote:EDIT: Also looks like Apollux confirmed a Voyager SS86 Wreck-Gar is coming as of earlier this morning as well, so you are getting that.
To be fair, Grimlock and Jazz are generalist versions compared to PotP's combining versions, and both Grimlock and Scourge have a size boost.Burn wrote:Yay. More characters that we got just a few years ago. Much excitement.

Slag is on the way in the '86 line.

Yep, means I'll be skipping a lot next year, which my wallet will like. Still sad that the movie figures will have so little attention, but at least there are beasts, and I can skip half of Kingdom and 90% of SS
Sowndwave76 wrote:Despite the distorted image, anyone think they have a good estimation of how tall Grimlock is compared to ER Voayger Prime?
The last of those is more the job of Cyberverse and whatever follows it, IMO. And before Cyberverse it was RiD2015.ZeroWolf wrote:D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Burn wrote:Yay. More characters that we got just a few years ago. Much excitement.

Best way of looking at it, but there's also an even better bright side. With these out of the way, Hasbro can finally focus less on G1 as the bulk will have been updated. They might decide to revisit the Unicron Trilogy or make Generations really like Marvel Legends abd have different styles of figures rubbing elbows. The sky will be the limit. They may even give us toys that make kids fall in love with them just as we did in our respective eras.
So Grimmy should indeed also be taller than Combiner Wars Optimus Prime (who is actually in cartoon scale with the WFC Autobots). PotP Grimlock, much though I love him, is shorter than CW Optimus.TF-fan kev777 wrote:Sowndwave76 wrote:Despite the distorted image, anyone think they have a good estimation of how tall Grimlock is compared to ER Voayger Prime?
Yes, IF SS86 Grimlock comes in a standard SS leader size box he should be about an inch taller. He looks to go about from the bottom of the R on the right side of the box to the bottom of the Generations logo in the upper right corner.
That measures about 7 and 3/4 inches.
I measured ER Leader Prime, I'm assuming you meant him (same bot as Voyager Netflix version) and he is about 6 and 3/4 inches.

New lead designer remember, he or she is going to have to put their spin on the '84 and '85 figures.
I really hope not. I'll admit to being a G1 fan (not the same as a Geewunner) but I'm getting tired of the same 8-10 characters getting redone over and over again. The Prime Wars trilogy and now the WFC trilogy did the G1 guys really well. Time for something else! Beast Wars is getting sone love, so how about we move on to Car Robots at least, if not the Unicron Trilogy. And I'm not even asking for a line-wide upgrade, just the major characters. I need a newer version of Team Bullet Train, even if JRX still holds up really well.Burn wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:With these out of the way, Hasbro can finally focus less on G1 as the bulk will have been updated. This is good news... Assuming you guys are right.
Okay, I don't feel completely stupid for not knowing, but ER "leader" Prime is actually the same size as the 35th Anniv. Anime Prime I have???
I really didn't pay attention because I had no plan (and still don't) of getting that version.

Either way, SS86 Grimlock being taller than the Prime I have is really good news!

Same happened to me about a month ago ago with those 2 and a couple of others. Some of mine cancelled without any notice and others I had to approve, but when I went to approve and confirm the payment method, you lost out on the sale from Feb.
I ended up going with Amazon and had them within a couple days.
Not that that's really different from RiD (2001) through Cybertron Optimus Primes, mind you, although some of WFC's Leaders pull it off better than others. Although in a lot of these the core figure may be Voyager height but the mass is closer to Deluxe And some aren't even Voyager height without the armor (although Astrotrain at least has more mass density than Shockwave).Jelze Bunnycat wrote:Sowndwave76 wrote:ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:So Grimmy should indeed also be taller than Combiner Wars Optimus Prime (who is actually in cartoon scale with the WFC Autobots). Most WFC Leaders have a "core" figure that's Voyager-sized, with armor or other big accessories to bulk up the price: Magnus' armor, Astrotrain's tender, Shockwave's armor pieces and Prime's trailer.
