My guess is that "Backtrack" is a new trademark for "Outback," which can't be trademarked anymore (for easily understandable reasons). The name is similar enough, and his G1 mold sire Brawn has been renewed for trademark as well, so make of that what you will.

I haven't owned this figure in a long time. I would love to see an update, though. If they did do a titan Piranhacon I wouldn't think twice about buying it, I just don't think realistically they Will.
Then **** man why are you arguing with me about this? The Hasbro designers themselves said that devastator was made the size he is to commemorate him being the first combiner. And Predaking was the largest g1 combiner so that leads me to believe that if they're doing him again it's going to follow the originals. Or maybe not, I could be completely wrong but it's what I THINK will happen. That's it.

Yeah, cause somehow a Steakhouse can defend a trademark in the Toy/Sports category.![]()
The Swerve mold really wouldn't be that bad for Outback would it? I'm not even sure he would need a new head.

The robot Burger King is less creepy since A) he doesn't look like he could be real, and B) his mouth is closed. The human Burger King is creepy for how closely he looks like he could be real and for that unsettling "I want to eat you" slightly open mouth of his.SillySpringer wrote:Ahh but then again, maybe the human look is even more creepy. I have to choose between: creepy killer alien robot version, or the slightly human, uncanny valley version.

The Subaru Outback is probably why, or it's your last point and this is being over-analyzed (which is fine too).Burn wrote:I was under the impression that trademark laws only applied when the property being trademarked was of similar property.
In other words, a steak house couldn't object to a trademark on a toy that changes from a robot to a vehicle.
A vehicle manufacturer however can easily object if they were using the word as a name for one of their car models.
Or it could simply be a case of Hasbro deciding the name no longer suited what they have in store for the character come Titan Wars.

As I understand it, "Titan Wars" is the line that comes after "Combiner Wars." It's a Hasbro designation.

Yes, Titan Wars is not related to the titan class, it is just a subline of generations.

In whatever case, I hope "Titan Wars" doesn't coincide with another event comic, further derailing the story of the flagship IDW book.

I dont know, I fear that if Galvatron does indeed become a headmaster, that the fiction would try to include that.

I'm not saying it couldn't happen TO him, but much like the CW Galvatronus it would go against his racial purity mindset.
And it's not that I didn't enjoy CW, it's just that EX-RID keeps gaining momentum, only to have to stop for an event. Plus it's the only book where the Cons still get representation, with interesting agendas and mindsets.

Agreed. The Crossovers are delaying the real story Barber is trying to get across. And if Galvatron became a headmaster in the comics, all hell would break lose. He killed every single one back in the day, and he hates any form of combination now, so that would just be very bad

Brainstorms toy is a headmaster. Last time I checked he wasn't one in MTMTE. Slingshot has a toy. He's dead. Galvatronus exists, cyclonus never ventured into the combiner wars comic. Rodimus is the Chest plate of Optimus Maximus. He's still co-captaining on the Lost light. Just because it exists in the toys doesn't necessarily mean it will in fiction.
