My guess is that "Backtrack" is a new trademark for "Outback," which can't be trademarked anymore (for easily understandable reasons). The name is similar enough, and his G1 mold sire Brawn has been renewed for trademark as well, so make of that what you will.

Yeah, cause somehow a Steakhouse can defend a trademark in the Toy/Sports category. :BANG_HEAD:
The Swerve mold really wouldn't be that bad for Outback would it? I'm not even sure he would need a new head.

I don't think they will either, but if they did, I think 5 deluxes and 1 voyager would be the way to go, because even though 5 members make up the gestalt, the limbs and the weapon are interchangeable, IIRC. I haven't owned this figure in a long time. I would love to see an update, though.

Then **** man why are you arguing with me about this? The Hasbro designers themselves said that devastator was made the size he is to commemorate him being the first combiner. And Predaking was the largest g1 combiner so that leads me to believe that if they're doing him again it's going to follow the originals. Or maybe not, I could be completely wrong but it's what I THINK will happen. That's it.
Image I'm not arguing. We're having a discussion. Or were having one, anyway. >:oP

"Outback" is also the model of an SVU sold by Subaru. I think that's the bigger issue for Hasbro.

Have you HAD one of their steaks? Besides Outback should be faction neutral. No rules just right, ya know?

I think Hasbro, Outback, and Subaru need to get together on some cross-promotional merchandising and put out a licensed Subaru Outback, as the G1 character Outback, branded with Outback Steakhouse logos, sold as souvenirs at Subaru dealerships and Outback Steakhouse locations. Corporate synergizing, GO!

I was under the impression that trademark laws only applied when the property being trademarked was of similar property.

In other words, a steak house couldn't object to a trademark on a toy that changes from a robot to a vehicle.

A vehicle manufacturer however can easily object if they were using the word as a name for one of their car models.

Or it could simply be a case of Hasbro deciding the name no longer suited what they have in store for the character come Titan Wars.

More repaints I'd welcome some in Titan Wars so long as they make sense (like Metro Titan) not to mention that I'm still keen to see some Combiner Wars versions of : Ratchet, Sideswipe, Bluestreak, Hoist, possibly Tracks. Heck why not Slicer, Detritus or Exhaust too. I'd not even complain about another 'Seeker' or two either - in either scale.

Completing sets is pretty important to me, as is anything that enhances my play pattern (a Decepticon Base bot does that for sure).

I'll tell you what else I'd like to see too new Legion moulds based on the Generations theme.

Somehow that picture makes the Burger King that much more creepy.

Ahh but then again, maybe the human look is even more creepy. I have to choose between: creepy killer alien robot version, or the slightly human, uncanny valley version.

Anyways what does this have to do with Titan Wars again?

The robot Burger King is less creepy since A) he doesn't look like he could be real, and B) his mouth is closed. The human Burger King is creepy for how closely he looks like he could be real and for that unsettling "I want to eat you" slightly open mouth of his.

The Subaru Outback is probably why, or it's your last point and this is being over-analyzed (which is fine too).

And on your first point, yes. Case in point: there are plenty of other products out there called "Transformer" that have nothing to do with The Transformers brand owned by Hasbro, including a tablet computer and another thing which you're just going to have to find on google because it's NSFW ;)

Wouldn't Devastator have fit better under the "Titan Wars" banner, considering he's a Titan Class figure? Or does the "Titan" in "Titan Wars" refer to the bigger bots, like Max and whoever else is coming down the pipe?

As I understand it, "Titan Wars" is the line that comes after "Combiner Wars." It's a Hasbro designation.

In whatever case, I hope "Titan Wars" doesn't coincide with another event comic, further derailing the story of the flagship IDW book.

I dont know, I fear that if Galvatron does indeed become a headmaster, that the fiction would try to include that.

I'm not saying it couldn't happen TO him, but much like the CW Galvatronus it would go against his racial purity mindset.

And it's not that I didn't enjoy CW, it's just that EX-RID keeps gaining momentum, only to have to stop for an event. Plus it's the only book where the Cons still get representation, with interesting agendas and mindsets.

Brainstorms toy is a headmaster. Last time I checked he wasn't one in MTMTE. Slingshot has a toy. He's dead. Galvatronus exists, cyclonus never ventured into the combiner wars comic. Rodimus is the Chest plate of Optimus Maximus. He's still co-captaining on the Lost light. Just because it exists in the toys doesn't necessarily mean it will in fiction.

Even so, consider this: The Protectobots and Mirage were brought into the crossover and ended up with new toys, despite the fact that they star in the series not involved. So who knows what they'll do. I agree about Brainstorm, but that is because he originally and always has been a headmaster toy. Galvatron would be crossing a line :BOT:
