Nice reminder. We do still have Monstructor on the back burner. I'd love an entire "third season" of beast combiners ... to include:

Monstructor
Predaking
Abominus
Dinobot-combiner to fight all these evil bots

plus the remaining Monsterbots

plus remaining beast Headmasters:
Apeface
Snapdragon
Fangry
Horribull
Squeezeplay
(not to mention Hosehead & Nightbeat & Siren & Minerva)

plus retools for these (don't have to be Pretenders)
Catilla
Carnivac (top pic. Great UK appearance and sweet toy)
Chainclaw
Snarler

plus Titans:
Scorponok
Trypticon

Wouldn't be bad for a third year! That would be a series of beasts I wouldn't mind buying, especially if they stick to making them look like ROBOT beasts. That's what makes them cool, IMHO. As soon as they start looking like plastic figurines of animals (ie like Schleich), they lose their cool factor.

38 figures. How does that compare with CW and/or Titans?

Also, I still want the remaining Japanese exclusive heads, plus a box set of white ones as an eHobby exclusive. :-D

Do you guys think there's any molding similarities between this toy and Sinnertwin?

I'm still riding this Doublecross and Sinnertwin sharing engineering in the same way Chromedome and Dead End do theory.

And Alpha Trion as a remolded Razorclaw. And Weirdwolf as Rampage, Tantrum or Headstrong (or all 3). Mindwipe remolded as Cutthroat (and maybe the same engineering for Swoop). The animal combiners are on their way folks!

To be honest, I could see Doublecross being used as the basis for either Sinnerstwin/Twinstrike, or Hun-Gurr, from their Prime incarnations (which were repurposed for G1). Hun-Gurr was a biped, but Twinstrike had heads for hands.
Actually, we don't know what the transformation scheme is yet, it's quite possible that it won't allow for any limb modes (Read: try it once you get him!)

But Hung-Gurr would need to be a Voyager, no?

Yes, but upscaling designs has been done in the past. Go the way of the Cyber Series or Beast Hunters Series 3, and take it a step further :)
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

I would LOVE a Predaking. Either the classic voyager with four deluxes box set (box set since Divebomb has that whole un-attaching wing thing for combining), or a Leader class Razorclaw with Voyager limbs. Either would be so boss.

Isnt that false advertising though since doublecross and sixshot are not even out yet? But anyway im still not sure how i feel about doublecross, i love the G1 figure but there are things about this one that im not really liking. Ill wait til there are actual pictures of the figure, might be one of those ones that looks alot better in hand. Now i have to decide if i want to even bother repainting TFP sinnertwin into doublecross, why do a time consuming custom when a full fledged figure is on the way.

I keep hoping for some smaller more playable options for Devastator - I think the CW one is far to big to be an everyday play thing.

Individual robots that are Deluxe or small Voyager would be more useful Hercules is OK for that I guess - if he was a little smaller.

I understand there is going to be a HUGER version of one of the 3rd party releases (Toyworlds I believe) But perhaps someone will do a smaller one.

That was one of the reasons I lament the lack of Hook and Mixmaster Botcon toys. To give me a nice playable version of the characters from the enjoyable TF Cybertron moulds for Mudflap and Quickmix - as well as a complement to the Universe Constructicons.

But then I kinda collect Constructicons like a Kinda Collect Optimus Primes I guess. I suppose I just like their colour. and they look nice together like Optimus look nice together too.

I'm still finding it hard to talk myself into buying the Hasbro one though.

Yup, does it surprise you coming from TRU?

Also, you guys make me think of something:

If they do finally make Generations DInobots (new molds and all), would you like them to also be combiners? I personally would rather not.

How about Voyager DYNOBOTS with 3 modes Vehicle - dinosaur and robot ?

But really it's about time there was a decent "Official" 5-team Dinobot Combiner.

I'm a but half and half. I'd prefer the Dinibots as individual figures but I'd also like them to combine so there could be a repaint as Dinoking.

I would want them to be the standard dinobots without any flashy accessory. not combining, not headmastering, just regular Dinobots.

But I do like the dinobot titan masters they're cool

Okay, yeah. I know I'm asking too much.

Having him in scale with the others would be a huge bonus. I'd re-buy the lot of them if they decided to re-scale them in a year or two.

I would love to have a regular Combiner Wars sized Devastator as well. Love the big one, but he's a one off and severely out-of-scale with the others. I'd really love to see the Voyager replaced with two deluxes to solve that problem, and give us Raiden/Trainbots and their "Micromaster" repaints. :D

After looking at the ToyWorld Devastator, I have to say that I am not impressed with the Unite Warriors one anymore. However, if they came out with a CW regular sized Devy, I might get that one just to have it. Right now though, I think I'll go for ToyWorld's yellow version and go MP scale. The G2 version of Devastator was the first version of the big guy I ever saw, which is funny because I had never seen the g1 cartoon at that point, so when I later saw it I thought it was weird that they were green instead of yellow.

Edit: I just realized this thread is actually about Titans Return...

I wouldn't mind the Dinobots being a combiner, but unless it ends up being as awesome as Sky Reign I wouldn't feel any particular need or want for it either. Cool if they are, cool if they aren't.
I think I said a few pages back that I would prefer the Dinobots to be Headmasters so as to bring back the cockpit playability the original purpose for the original toys had. I think that'd be a pretty cool way to expand the Titan Masters; mix it up with Diaclone.

That all said... I think my preferred sizes for Dinobots would be that Grimlock's the biggest, Swoop's the smallest and then the rest are somewhere in-between. Fits their personalities, alt-modes and original silhouettes well imo. Not entirely sure which size classes they would be in this case (grimlock tall voyager, swoop tall deluxe, rest voyager?) but because of this Grimlock's one of the guys that's made me think recently that it'd be cool if they brought back the Ultra class - because there's some guys a bit too big for Voyager but not quite Leader imo. ... that said I forget the others off the top of my head. I'm good at this guys

See, that's the double-edged sword of these. Devastator, being for all purposes the first combiner introduced in the original toy line, and arguably a *classic* , which is why he was chosen to be a Titan size toy. But his characterization is always portrayed as the same size as all the other scramble-city combiners. Omega Supreme was probably a head larger than them, yet Dev was his Rival (yet he will no doubt get a Titan size toy down the line)...

Predaking was portrayed as the same as scramble size combienrs in the show, but in the toy, and most other comics, he is a bit larger, basically the same size as Omega Supreme.

I'd say it would be best if Predaking was the same size as the other CW combiners (using the same system)...

What would be interesting however....would be to make a Titan size Monstructor. Another 6-member team, Pretender molds for 6 Voayger figures could actually be quite detailed. It would make up for his "lack-of-size" as to the original TF toy, and in IDW (at least) he has a history with Omega Supreme. Plus-Convention Exclusive Dino-King Repaint (pretender shell remolds)

Sorry...not trying to overlook Titans Return, it really has some great toys coming out... But what would be cool in late 2017/2018:

Predaking
Abominus
Piranacon
Dinobot (Combiner)
+ 2 New Autobot Combiners based on new Animal/Beast teams to even things out

Titan Class:
Monstructor/Dinoking
Omega Supreme
Raiden
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

This thread is lighting up a good bit right now. And kinda going off tack but whatever.

I'm absolutely fine with Devastator's size. We don't need another one any time soon. I can't see HasTak finding it necessary to release another Devastator just to appease fans that want consistency. They may make a smaller one ten years from now but it still probably won't scale with the Scramble City combiners.

I think saying that every figure in TR with a beast mode should become another character with a beast mode because they're kinda similar is ridiculous. There have been only new molds for TR, minus Buzzsaw into Laserbeak and Ultra Magnus into PMOP, so I think it's going to be mostly new molds for the next line. HasTak won't just drop a bunch TR rehashes on us.

Predaking would be cool as a Titan but he should just be around Scramble City height, maybe slightly taller.

Oh right Dinobots. Combiner, headmasters, or just plain old Dinobots would make me happy. Ideally I'd want them to have just Titanmaster cockpits. Some Diaclone fun. I kinda hope they aren't too G1 but I'm sure they will be. Given the direction of Generations and if they would be a thing the first CHUG Dinobots.
