Yeah, I'm actually more interested in getting the original CHUG version.

Very much the alt mode.

While TM Kup's alt mode is more closer to the original, I can see too many points that make up the transformation. You can see where things fold and bend and turn, you can see the pins that hold it all together.

Look at CHUG Kup, while his alt mode is more Earth based than Cybertron based, it looks clean.

easy skip if he remains in those colors. perfectly happy with the previous generations toy.

Robot mode looks pretty good, aside from the hollowness (the arms in particular being sucky considering his fists don't even fold in) but the black head looks absolutely awful. The vehicle mode, meanwhile, looks decent, though I wish the arms blended in a bit better with the rest of the vehicle cabin.

Meh. I'll probably stick with PRID Kup.

Generations and PRID Kups both look better than this guy to me. They both look more like sergeants.

I'll reserve judgement until it's actually released. From what I can see of it it's mildly disappointing, but it doesn't look like a dud per se, especially compared to, say, Galvatron (whose disastrous head ruined an otherwise good figure) or Sixshot (who according to early birds has some truly horrendous articulation, including the most useless ankle tilts ever).

Actually, that does start to give me vibes of Orion Pax! Honestly the more I look at the first two shots at least, the more I like those general colors on that mold. I think people are on the right track with this potential repaint.

Also, happy day, the truck bed is a solid piece! I'm in the "vehicle mode looks good at least" camp, and since I missed out on the Generations mold, I'll probably be getting this guy regardless as long as he's taller than PRID Kup.

Is the headsculpt really that bad? I quite like the toy except for the slightly problematic arms. The more I look at this Kup the more I want to not get it. The black helmet is not good at all. The other black parts are okay but it would look a lot better if it was more like the cartoon or AHM. The flat chest isn't that good looking either. I just realized what I said and I fear what Will's response might be.

No, it's an okay mold with both great and horrible parts about it. Still, I'd prefer to get the Gen guy over this one, personally. He's just more badass-looking, while this new one looks just too wimpy and weird.

I got the Generations figure out earlier when I first posted my opinions on TR Kup.

Like I said, alt mode is more Earth based than Cybertronian, but I definitely prefer the robot mode over TR because it fits the character better. It's more gruff and tougher looking, TR Kup is just looking a little too square and doesn't scream "grizzled veteran warrior that'll knock you on your arse if you back talk him"

That all makes sense, as the Generations figure had its robot mode models mostly after the Floro Dery cartoon model with its overall curviness (with some alterations to account for the new Earth-based altmode), while this new TR figure instead takes after Guido Guidi's more blocky All Hail Megatron design for Kup (while making the altmode more closely resemble Kup's 1986 G1 altmode).

That's why the arms and shoulders are so boxy.

And that's why the toy-based colors look even more odd on that mold than the should. They put toy-based colors on a Kup whose body design is based on one whose colors were more cartoon-based than anything.

As someone who's never bothered chasing down an Orion Pax figure, I'd be inclined to get this if it were to happen.
