Back on topic, while the Cybertron boxset Thunderwing is intended for use with that sets Tidalwave, and bar the exception of Sky Shadow, who else do you think he'd work well with?

You mean Dreamwave, not IDW. IDW only reprinted "War Within", Dreamwave made it.

3mm ports go back to the G1 Autobot Cars, the Dinobots, the Constructicons, and the Special Teams limb members (Well, except the Aerialbots)

Anybody got any connected base mode photos of the Leader-class figures (for these purposes, Sixshot's tank mode counts)?

Speaking of base modes, add me in to those hoping there will be a Dai Atlas (who would probably be packaged as "King Atlas" - precedent plus "Dai" sounds like "Die" and retailers aren't letting any brand other than Star Wars use words like "Die", "Death", and "Kill" these days) from the Sky Shadow/Overlord mold and/or that the "Power of the Primes" successor line will have compatible base modes. Because PMOP's base mode is.. yeah. There's that fan mode that points the decks forward to give driving clearance on the ramps, but it's still not ideal for linking him to other base modes (if only his knees were reversible so that the ramps could point out to the sides like the original PMOP..). That and, well, as far as regular retail goes: The Decepticons have Oversize Soundwave, Overlord, Sky Shadow, and Sixshot. The Autobots have Oversize Blaster and Powermaster Optimus Prime. "Quickswitch" and "Magnus Prime" even the numbers out but they're set exclusives and Magnus Prime is not exactly super-distinct in color from PMOP (at least Overlord and Sky Shadow have markedly different color schemes) and unless he's been retooled to have reversible knees his base mode has the same deficiencies. So we could decidedly do with either Dai Atlas or an Apex Bomber import of Godbomber.

I like to think of the boosters on the front of the tank as dual flame throwers.

The Cartoon screwed up (again) and had the turret the wrong way around - that said - in my own head cannon he can have the jet nose kibble facing towards or away from his direction of travel depending on if he wants to fly towards or away from something as he transforms from tank to jet.

With the jet nose pointing forwards his direction of travel remains the same he just has to barrel roll. where as if it was facing the other way he'd have to back flip to travel the same direction - which might actually be quicker and safer, but as a consequence he'd likely have to stop to Transform.

But it is a little odd that the cartoon showed the headlamp end of the tank as the back.

Still, in the G1 Movie, the turret was in front of the nosecone of the jet 8-} but the TR Blitzwing's turret was reversed by reasons (damn stock images  )

Making the nosecone end the front of the tank would be another interesting way to differentiate Blitzwing from Megatron.

I can second that. Its fun seeing the progress of the leader class and how they can connect from Fort Max (Currently I start with Blaster & Soundwave at either end, then connect to Sixshot and Quickswitch, then Skyshadow and PM Prime are the *oddballs* at the end) . Sorry I'm just too lazy to take pics ;) .

It will be nice to see when Overlord and Trypticon come out how the circuit might look when its near completion. (Though we will still have Magnus Prime, 2 unannounced leaders for 2 remaining Box sets, and *hopefully* a new Leader for Wave 6)

I'd actually already been messing around with this on my Megatron (not necessarily with intent to differentiate the two, although it would work well for that; moreso just out of curiosity as to how the tank would look that way). It may just be the fusion-cannon attachment that causes a problem - I haven't actually tried it without, to my memory - but the lump of the jet's nosecone gets in the way and pushes the tank barrel upward, making it look and feel not quite right. (Certainly not combat-optimal, being able to aim a minimum of 10 degrees above the tank itself). I'll take some photos tomorrow if I can (it's past 1 in the morning right now for me), but unless Blitzwing's cannon attachment is significantly different in shape and/or depth I think it might cause the same issue.

Spring 2018? ?? Are you on a 15 dollar a month layaway payment plan  . Or do you just hope to get him on clearance at that time?

Sorry since the whole Generations Metroplex fiasco (I know he seemed to be plentiful everywhere but in my area, and I had no way to obtain him online in 2013/14) . I have to try to get Trypticon when/if I see him. Hasbro typically always way under produces their Decepticons. (Even when I was a kid, I always wondered why, aside from Menasor, and much later Piranacon, Hasbro only produced combiner box sets for Autobot combiners, but not for Decepticon ones...Takara and other European TF distributors did it...) This is still my fear with Trypticon. If I am proved wrong, I will be pleasantly surprised.

This is still my fear with Trypticon. If I am proved wrong, I will be pleasantly surprised.

While I do tend to agree with your line of thinking (I mean heck, I already bought my Trypticon), I get the feeling that perhaps this might be the one that bucks the trend. My local store just got six of the big boy in, which is twice as many as they stocked of each of the previous two Titans (I don't remember what it was like for Metroplex); I know that individual store distribution doesn't necessarily reflect production, but it seems to me like a good bet that Hasbro would know they're onto something with a giant robot dinosaur that's also a city and a spaceship.

If kids think it's cool they'll want it; if stores think kids will want it (and what kid wouldn't?!) then they'll want more stock; and if Hasbro thinks stores will want more stock they'll probably produce it in higher numbers. It's all a game of I-think-you-think-they-think, but I feel like chances are Hasbro is at least savvy enough to know a winner concept when they see it. So far with Titans Return (and Combiner Wars before that), Hasbro has convinced me that for the most part they're pretty in-touch with what will sell and how to make sure it does so optimally, so if any one Titan is going to see increased production numbers from the 'normal' amounts, my bets would be on this one.
...
...What was my point again? This is what I get for trying to say things at nearly 2 in the morning. :HEADHURTS:

Was Devastator short-stocked? He's the only precedence we have in terms of a Decepticon Titan-class.

Qwan lives in Australia, where box sets are easier to obtain. Actually CW Devastator is another good point to my argument. I NEVER saw a CW Devastator in a retail store. I was collecting and looking at the time. Fortunately he was easy to obtain online, and I held out for the UW version, which I got about 6 months ago , a pretty good deal on eBay (about $175.00 USD). He is still in stock on some websites however.

Devastator had a giftset release in the US and in Canada. I'm not sure why Bruticus and Abominus didn't have US giftsets.

Hasbro doesn't always under-produce Decepticons. I think they got better about keeping the 'Con numbers up starting with RID, and have sometimes actually over-produced (*cough*Supreme-class Starscream*cough*) them. Trypticon is probably going to get a good run. He's a gigantic T. Rex robot with Godzilla-esque ridges and loads of weapons (AND he turns into stuff!), so the kid-appeal factor is tremendous. They're going to be demanding him for Christmas or their birthday.
WANT:

* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Leader Sentinel Prime sword, shield
