I had posted this way back on page 5 a while back. Sabrblade made a comment that Hasbro had stated Soundwave would get a whole new mold. I hope so, but something like this wouldn't be the end of the world. Hopefully they'll at least do some retooling. Maybe lose the speakers.

That digi-bashed Soundwave doesn't look too bad to me.
I don't think they would have to work very hard to turn Blaster into a respectable enough looking Soundwave.

I can confirm that the base molds connect. So far it has been confirmed that Blaster connects to both Powermaster Prime and Fort Max.

There was something they got wrong though but simply because it wasnt clear, forgot what it was. For Soundwave, it could also be a misinterpretation of a heavy remold. In any case, we know he will be leader sized inorder to accomodate Buzzsaw.

Yeah I actually love the size, it's the hollowness I'm worried about. I hope it doesn't feel cheap like people say CW UM feels.

People are upset because they view the Classics Voyager releases of Optimus Prime and Megatron as the "definitive" measuring stick to which all CHUG toys must be scaled to match accordingly, and since Blaster didn't tower over Optimus Prime in the precious 1980's G1 cartoon, those who are upset feel that Blaster is far too oversized for a "proper" CHUG collection since CHUG toys ought to correct the "scale mistakes" of the original G1 toys by adhering to how the characters were scaled in the cartoon based on the sizes Optimus's and Megatron's decade-old Classics Voyagers.

meh. It all comes down to personal preferences. So yeah, whatever.

Just going to add, and I know all too well it'll probably piss some people off, but you know what's great about TW Blaster regardless of his size? Or ANY figure that is a modern update on a classic G1 character?

If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it, and your life won't be affected in any way whatsoever!

Besides, this Leader class, modern-articulated Blaster can finally fight MP Grimlock for Autobot Leadership on the Moon.

(Grrr this is the second time writing this post cuz my computer messed up before being able to post.)

I am kinda now wanting to get both Blaster and Soundwave even though I have a crap ton of toys to get for 2016. *sigh* a collector's dream is to just buy all the good toys and make everyone else feel bad for not getting them. (Actually that sounds a bit like Burn...)

Well, considering we've seen his base mode, and most of it is comprised of unfolding his legs, I'm surprised people are so surprised about it;

I WILL say that leaving the front of the knees open like that, doesn't seem like a great decision, feels a little lazy

Nothing. That pic is of the BACK of his legs, not the front.

Honestly, I don't really get all the trouble over Blaster's hollowness. That looks like some pretty solid construction to me. I mean ,how many TFs have hollow forearms due to the cavity that holds their fists, or the same for the legs where the foot folds into an empty cavity?
I would be more concerned over the stability of that box made of folded panels, than the empty space inside it.

Also, just my perspective, but why do these guys have to be shoehorned into a Classics/Gen collection? Why can't they be enjoyed for what they are and the gimmicks they employ?

Not sure yet, but I think I'll leave FoC Blaster and Soundwave on my Classics shelf, and these guys will most likely be bases and battle stations for my Legions, Legends, and Cyberverse display.

Alright, so I was wrong, that is behind the knee's. If you notice, the back of the leg has half of the speaker on it, the other half is on the side of the leg. So the knee is connected to one panel, while the rest of the panels wrap around the joint to form the leg. But it also has to unwrap for alt mode and base mode seen here:



If you notice, the weird knee joint is seen on the one panel, while the rest of the panels do some crazy unfolding to form the base mode. I hope this helps, I can't really explain it better, other than: victim of panel-forming
