Well, you're in for disappointment, I'm sure we'll be getting 6 recolors of Skullcruncher for all the alligator figures we (haven't) had :-P

WAIT... Soundwave is getting a TR mold with a detachable head... and Soundwave was an alligator in BW...

Never underestimate Hasbro when it comes to making the most out a mold.

Case in point, the most recent rumour from the transmissions podcast:

Titanmaster Deluxe Brainstorm will be a remold of Titanmaster Deluxe Blurr (new head, and adds wings).

Also, while I was visiting the rumour mill (getting my weekly flour bag), I stumbled upon this:

There will be another Windblade figure, who is not a Headmaster.

So for those who want non headmasters to remain non headmasters, well no worries, Windblade is getting issued again and not as a headmaster :-D

We're Transformers fans, it's what we do.

Someone mentioned in the CW thread about Computron becoming a Headmaster but it wouldn't happen because it would require a lot of retooling.

Looking at TR (got it right then Billy-Jim!) Blaster, it looks like the Titanmaster just plugs into a flat piece of plastic.

Can't imagine that would take much retooling on Scattorshot. Throw in some weapon Mini-cons and we have three gimmicks in one!

Oh Hasbro knows full well. They even commented that very possibility during an interview with Seibertron (I think, there were so many itnerviews I forget which one it was).

I was actually super impressed when they brough it up. Its always nie to know the people that run it know of such niche toys.

I scanned through that post and couldn't see anything about Blurr being retooled into any other characters. I also think a deluxe Brainstorm retool of Blurr is kinda stupid and not needed.

Well, that was me shooting it down, and I was basing it off the fact that there may not be enough clearance for the neckplate to accommodate the headmasters head-clips and such; but if the rotation joint is included in the headmaster unit (the headmaster's head must be on a mushroom joint - maybe one like cw cyclonus that can rock forwards and backwards maybe  ), I suppose it could happen - so long as it is more accurate to what it is trying to emulate, I don't care >:oP

Yeah, considering when the first one was released, I think that was them testing some of the designs for this line, while fitting in a portion of tf history into the 30's line :-?

Canada didn't get Generations Brainstorm?! That's a travesty. I was never into headmasters but Brainstorm made me a believer and it's probably the main reason I'm excited for the TR line. My favorite figure shifts from time to time but I always come back to Gen Brainstorm. I'm slightly opposed to another incarnation when the current one suits the character perfectly well already, but I'd probably end up picking it up anyway.

Yeah but still, I'd probably just get Gen Brainstorm and get the Blurr version of this new mold.

First off, I don't think I was so obtuse as to be mentioned in the same breath as anything that could be considered a "new-stuff hater." Before most current board members were on their way to see the 2007 movie, I was taking up the sword and shield for RiD and Armada, two franchise elements much harder to defend that CW or TR, against a sea of G1 purists.

So I'll have no one on this board inferring any bit of close mindedness on my part.

:???:

How was any of that directed at you?
Unless you are referring to my use of the term GEEWUNner, I don't remember pointing you out.
The specific meaning of GEEWUNNer (from Wikipiedia, and I quote) is: "pejorative, fandom slang, (chiefly Transformers fandom) Someone who prefers the first generation of a franchise, especially when elitist or snobbish about later generations". That wasn't intended to insult you.

Great, but you've already said that at least twice now. I don't have a problem with you sticking with him, but please stop proclaiming it every time TR Blaster is mentioned.

I base my comments on how I feet at the current time of posting. I don't keep track of posts I made a month ago. Maybe if Hasbro's choices for this character didn't suck so much, I would have something more positive to say. Not only is it out of scale, they made him a freaking headmaster and a mini city bot just for the hell of it. My comments are no more redundant than the dozens of other negative comments made about this figure for the same reasons I stated. You know whats really getting redundant?

You singling out my comments among an entire sea of negativity. #-o

Except the choices didn't suck. Sure for a G1 purist, they do, but for their intended audience, it makes the toy look more attractive, and thus more likely to be bought. It just so happens that they don't match up with the way you like things. And for the thing about comments, most people are just saying that they wish that the figure didn't have the whole HeadTitanmaster gimmick, while you are directly insulting the figure itself. That's a whole other level.

Well, we've seen that they do have rotation, and that some helmets have joints to allow for this. the cg shots take some liberties, but the demo videos from sdcc and whatnot show this off. But I guess, if it was computrons had, it wouldn't be a headmaster in a helmet (nowhere for the helmet to go) so it could take liberties with it's design >:oP

I bet that Alligator/Crocodile will get repainted to with-in an inch of it's life - I'd not mind a City of Steel Optimus even if that does step on the toes of the idea of a Bat Optimus Titanmaster a bit.

I'd say it would be fun to have a Amazon twin pack style gift set with a Megatron Croc with an Optimus Bat in the set.

They they can just slap City of Steel Optimus in the main line so there is some sort of Optimus Deluxe toy.

It might be feasible to turn Hardhead into a Dynobot too. I would imagine they would stay away from making it a Tank Vehicon though.

----

Any how - I don't personally object to gimics - I do though prefer that a character is given the 'appropriate' one when feasible. Some might see Blurr or Hot-Rodimus as Titanmasters as a bit to extreme of a change to really embrace though, perhaps even more so as it's suggested the reason they are getting toys is as a love letter to the animated Movie of the 1980's. If that was the case then headmasters are not really fulfilling that goal so well as no gimmick or Season 4 Style Targetmasters on those guys would.

Well Mindwipe is rumoured to come along so Mindwipe and Skullcruncher could be BW Optimus and Megatron.

And that could be our BW 20th Anniversary set!

I don't see why everyone is so certain that every mold is going to get repainted to hell. I understand what happened in combiner wars has people on the defensive but I saw it as a way for them to pay for this next line and not rely on as many reuses in this line.

Hasbro has stated that making molds is expensive. So expensive they have to be used for at least two separate releases (redeco or retool) in order to break even. That doesn't always happen, mind you, but it does make us weary for (or prone to joke about) any potential reuse.

If you like Headmasters and want to see perfect G1 homages to them, then I recomend you keep a lookout. Hasbro is going to be giving 3p a run for its money, wait and see.
.

No, they won't. Not in my opinion anyway. Takara can with the masterpiece line, but as Hasbro only sporadically puts out MPs, they will never hold a candle to what 3rd party offers the adult collector. Thats fine, even if I don't like it, I understand why they make it as broad appealing as possible, but the cheap quality and visibly hollow parts have just about ruined Hasbro/Takara main line figures for me.

Take Leader Class Ultra Magnus. One of the most awesome looking figures we've gotten in several years. I stress looking. In hand, he is cheap and flimsy. The hollowed arms stand out like big blinking neon signs. I'm so disgusted with what was my most looked forward to figure of the year, that I just about want to put it on the target stump where Motormaster met its demise.

Everything I've seen of the Titans line just seems to be more of the same. Awsome looking figures? Yeah, they are, but with so many cost cutting flaws, the awsome is drowned in a sea of **** soup. Yeah, I think I'm done. I might add a random figure here or there to the box of transformers I'm keeping for when my boys are older, but no more Hasbro product for me. I'm much happier and satisfied by a $100 3rd party deluxe than a $45 Hasbro leader.
Card carrying grumpy old man.

We just got a pretty nice Megatron in combiner wars, I hope they just leave him alone and save a spot for another character
