Oh believe me, I've experience with the mold... as Thundercracker. And I loved it. Yeah it's a bit hollow but it's a fantastic look and the jet is just outstandingly beautiful. It's actually my favourite Seeker, believe it or not...

Funny, Stu posted a link to pics of that Headmaster Jetfire the other day and nobody even noticed. Or maybe it was such an obvious knockoff that people just ignored it? The biggest clue is the head:

Yeah, that's no Titan Master. Not sure what they point is in making Jetfire/Skyfire a Headmaster in the vein of Titans Return if the head is going to be designed entirely differently.

Yeah I still like the look of Fakebusker's helmets better. And the Shapeways purple plastic apparently look pretty darn close to Galvy's purple plastic and paints.

Having just received the Shapeways helmet, the color isn't close at all. Much lighter.

Thats too bad man!

I know I will sound like a downer but I dont think an add on helmet can save this galvatron. The only thing that works is if the helmet is part of the headsculpt. The best trick so far is to use a silver sharpie on the face and then detach the pop out helmet and glue it to the face. It gives the best result (although these people didnt think to use a silver sharpie first).

Image

Also, still ticked off that they didnt end up painting the head like they showed us initially.

Image

Never forget!

Having seen pics of the Shapeways helmet, whilst it's not perfect by any means, it's a hell of a lot better than the default "mask". Given that the purple doesn't match up anyway I'd recommend splurging for the more expensive but better detailed Frosted Ultra/Extreme Detail version and giving it a coat of purple paint. I know there is the option of removing the mask from the assembly and attaching it to the Headmaster, but that makes it impossible for him to store away in the cockpit in cannon or jet modes. I do agree that the paint we saw on the prototype would have made him a whole lot better though.

I'm waiting for a full on 3P upgrade kit that gives him a "normal" head to be honest. Not because I dislike Galvatron as a Headmaster, but because the gimmick was so badly botched on him that I think de-Headmastering him is the only way to salvage a figure that is (from what I've seen) otherwise great from the neck down. Also, it would give Galvatron owners a spare Headmaster figure, which is always cool.

I actually got the g1 shapeways helmet through the mail today, and I have to say that it's a damn close match on the colour.

The problem with taking pictures of it to compare colours is a dalse medium as the flash changes the contrast. To make my point I took a pic with and without flash

That's kinda like asking why do we need a new Optimus(we recently got the CW & more recently RID one), new Hot Rod(again we got a CW! even though they called it Rodimus), new Kup(we got a TF Prime Beast Hunters Sargeant Kup), new Blaster(we recently got the Platinum Edition), new Eject(again! we got one that came with the Platinum Edition Blaster), new Bumblebee(we recently got the RID & even more recent Combiner Force one).

Well...
-Very few fans want more Optimuses (Optimi?) and Bumblebees. They just continue to get new figures because, obviously, they're very big names and sell very well.
-Kup has never had an update that was particular true to his G1 toy and character model before. The 2011 Generations Sergeant Kup was a pretty awesome earth-mode revamp, but if you want one that looks like his G1 self it's not a perfect match. The same can be said for the likes of Scourge.
-Hot Rod's previous figures were Classics - which quite a few people didn't like - and CW, which was a completely different scale. Even if you liked the Classics toy, it came out a long time ago so it's nice to be able to get another chance at getting him. You could also argue his Classics toy isn't that good a representation of how he looked in G1.
-Eject's one previous toy was his G1 figure. He's never had an update before outside of Timelines which is not a mainline release.

Jetfire is not a big name, has had all his G1 appearances represented in an update - both of which were very good - and his last toy was very, very recent. I'm really not sure what you want from a Titans Return Jetfire that you couldn't get from the Thrilling 30 version, unless you're desperate for Titan Master compatibility.

There is always going to be "New fans" they are going to want an Optimus and perhaps a Bumblebee.

RID Bumblebee is starting to outstay his welcome a bit though.

Personally I usually look forward to a new Optimus especially non-Movie Voyager size ones. as I have a nice little collection of that sort of thing going on in their own right.

There are of course people who collect mainly a single Character like Starscream, Megatron, Optimus or Bumblebee.

Under normal circumstances during a gimmick line year and where appropriate I'd like to have an Optimus to represent that Gimmick.

------

As for Jetfire - I don't have a huge need for a new one - but a new jet mould that could be used for others like Treadbolt or (AM Autobot) Skyfall would be nice. So I'#d be OK with a new Jetfire so long as the repaints they get out of it are interesting that follow on.

I do think there are some minor issue with the previous ones though the Voyager is a bit back heavy and doesn't stand so well - the same is true of the leader too as well to some extent. I didn't really find Leader Jetfire fun to play with - he for me at least kept getting stuck during Transformation and wasn't a lot of fun to change back and forth.

So No I'd not mind another one.

--------

Oh and the Plural of Optimus is 'Optimus' But I think people would understand you better if you do a hatchet job on English grammar and say Optimuses or avoid it by saying things like : 'Multiple Optimus'

The possessive is Optimus' as in (This is Optimus' gun)

Well tbh...the G1 Jetfire toy was a redeco of a Macross Valkyrie & the Valkyries would've had a pilot!(even though the Jetfire toy didn't come with one) so i s'pose a Titans Return fig could've at least given some sort of a nod to that, but this time include a pilot(TM)

Classics Jetfire was much closer to the animation look than CW. CW Jetfire, realistically, was a pre-tool. That mold suited the Seekers soooooooo much better.

I will say that the helmet looks fine in low light, but as soon as you expose it to bright lights or sunlight the disparity becomes apparent.

In other words, it will look fine in the basement, but don't set it near a window.

Just needs the canon side mounted and it's pretty much perfect.

Guys, there is no such thing as a combiner wars Jetfire. The latest was simply part of the Generations line, under thrilling 30. And while he is hollow, i believevhe is the perfeft case for style over substance. They took the easy way out with the fake chest and ton of underjet kibble but boy is that a stylish bot. And the jet mode is quite sexy too. Dont you worry, i will have a list explaining all that sooner rather than later.

And in any case, all those who speak ill of that Jetfire for his fake kibble, i hope you say the same about that first edition voyager prime from prime. Especially when the rid prime voyager found a way to use his actual windshield.

Are you talking about Combiner Wars Jetfire? I thought it was extremely underwhelming with all of the hollowness, particularly on the wings, not to mention that I really would like to get a proper cartoon styled version of that toy with the "differently shaped" nosecone, and a neck that doesn't look weird.

Classics Jetfire was much closer to the animation look than CW. CW Jetfire, realistically, was a pre-tool. That mold suited the Seekers soooooooo much better.

Guys, there is no such thing as a combiner wars Jetfire. The latest was simply part of the Generations line, under thrilling 30.

You've done well, young grasshopper. Soon you could become one of us

And in any case, all those who speak ill of that Jetfire for his fake kibble, i hope you say the same about that first edition voyager prime from prime. Especially when the rid prime voyager found a way to use his actual windshield.

Albeit upside down ;)

I wouldn't call it cheating if the windshield gets covered up by a piece of similar design, only deformed, but I know what you're getting at. A better example would be RiD Weaponizer Prime.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

To be fair though, you paid bottom-dollar for yours, and that'll easily slant a view point...

On a completely different topic, the only figure I'm really looking forward to is Quake, that guy looks ridiculously awesome 8-)

But I pay bottom dollar for everything so my view point remains the same from figure to figure.

I paid $100 US (tax in) for TR Fort Max and I still think he sucks.

Generations Leader Jetfire is the best robot mode representation of the G1 cartoon character and the best alternate mode representation of the G1 toy.
Classics Voyager Jetfire is the best alternate mode representation of the G1 cartoon character and the best robot mode representation of the G1 toy.
In short, your mileage will vary, depending on what you prioritize in your Transformers toys. We simply don't have a Jetfire yet that gets it all right for one G1 style.

Perhaps, but I think a lot of other people view him from the standpoint of paying normal or higher prices for figures, so therein lies an inherent discrepancy

I paid $100 US (tax in) for TR Fort Max and I still think he sucks.

That's because it does suck and nothing can save it >:oP

I dont tend to make too many negative lists (aside from worst figures, which is always fun) but if one were to do a "most dissapointing TF toys" list, you think he could be a rightful contender? Would any figure top him?
