Emerje wrote:Funny, Stu posted a link to pics of that Headmaster Jetfire the other day and nobody even noticed. Or maybe it was such an obvious knockoff that people just ignored it? The biggest clue is the head:
Yeah, that's no Titan Master. Not sure what they point is in making Jetfire/Skyfire a Headmaster in the vein of Titans Return if the head is going to be designed entirely differently.

Yeah I still like the look of Fakebusker's helmets better. And the Shapeways purple plastic apparently look pretty darn close to Galvy's purple plastic and paints.
Having just received the Shapeways helmet, the color isn't close at all. Much lighter.
Thats too bad man!
I know I will sound like a downer but I dont think an add on helmet can save this galvatron. The only thing that works is if the helmet is part of the headsculpt. The best trick so far is to use a silver sharpie on the face and then detach the pop out helmet and glue it to the face. It gives the best result (although these people didnt think to use a silver sharpie first).
Also, still ticked off that they didnt end up painting the head like they showed us initially.
Never forget!
Having seen pics of the Shapeways helmet, whilst it's not perfect by any means, it's a hell of a lot better than the default "mask". Given that the purple doesn't match up anyway I'd recommend splurging for the more expensive but better detailed Frosted Ultra/Extreme Detail version and giving it a coat of purple paint. I know there is the option of removing the mask from the assembly and attaching it to the Headmaster, but that makes it impossible for him to store away in the cockpit in cannon or jet modes. I do agree that the paint we saw on the prototype would have made him a whole lot better though.
I'm waiting for a full on 3P upgrade kit that gives him a "normal" head to be honest. Not because I dislike Galvatron as a Headmaster, but because the gimmick was so badly botched on him that I think de-Headmastering him is the only way to salvage a figure that is (from what I've seen) otherwise great from the neck down. Also, it would give Galvatron owners a spare Headmaster figure, which is always cool.

I'm... not really following your logic. If you agree with the statement that the previous, very recent figure was incredible, why would you need a new one?![]()

That's kinda like asking why do we need a new Optimus(we recently got the CW & more recently RID one), new Hot Rod(again we got a CW! even though they called it Rodimus), new Kup(we got a TF Prime Beast Hunters Sargeant Kup), new Blaster(we recently got the Platinum Edition), new Eject(again! we got one that came with the Platinum Edition Blaster), new Bumblebee(we recently got the RID & even more recent Combiner Force one).

-Kup has never had an update that was particular true to his G1 toy and character model before. The 2011 Generations Sergeant Kup was a pretty awesome earth-mode revamp, but if you want one that looks like his G1 self it's not a perfect match. The same can be said for the likes of Scourge.
-Hot Rod's previous figures were Classics - which quite a few people didn't like - and CW, which was a completely different scale. Even if you liked the Classics toy, it came out a long time ago so it's nice to be able to get another chance at getting him. You could also argue his Classics toy isn't that good a representation of how he looked in G1.
-Eject's one previous toy was his G1 figure. He's never had an update before outside of Timelines which is not a mainline release.
Jetfire is not a big name, has had all his G1 appearances represented in an update - both of which were very good - and his last toy was very, very recent. I'm really not sure what you want from a Titans Return Jetfire that you couldn't get from the Thrilling 30 version, unless you're desperate for Titan Master compatibility.

Are you talking about Combiner Wars Jetfire? I thought it was extremely underwhelming with all of the hollowness, particularly on the wings, not to mention that I really would like to get a proper cartoon styled version of that toy with the "differently shaped" nosecone, and a neck that doesn't look weird.

Classics Jetfire was much closer to the animation look than CW. CW Jetfire, realistically, was a pre-tool. That mold suited the Seekers soooooooo much better.

I actually got the g1 shapeways helmet through the mail today, and I have to say that it's a damn close match on the colour.
The problem with taking pictures of it to compare colours is a dalse medium as the flash changes the contrast. To make my point I took a pic with and without flash

Guys, there is no such thing as a combiner wars Jetfire. The latest was simply part of the Generations line, under thrilling 30.
And in any case, all those who speak ill of that Jetfire for his fake kibble, i hope you say the same about that first edition voyager prime from prime. Especially when the rid prime voyager found a way to use his actual windshield.

And while he is hollow, i believevhe is the perfeft case for style over substance. They took the easy way out with the fake chest and ton of underjet kibble but boy is that a stylish bot. And the jet mode is quite sexy too. Dont you worry, i will have a list explaining all that sooner rather than later.

But I pay bottom dollar for everything so my view point remains the same from figure to figure.
I paid $100 US (tax in) for TR Fort Max and I still think he sucks.
