Don't get me wrong, I like Windblade, but I was really hoping for another character.
We already have a Windblade toy in this line and with so many other female characters to explore I really don't like this choice.
I was hoping for an Elita-One toy, and if they (Hasbro) didn't want to go that way, there's also Nautica, Firestar, Moonracer or maybe a Hasbro release of Nightbird or Slipstream.
I hope this is just a rumor and they release a different character.

No, technically you can only call something a retool if they actually changed the tooling of the previous mold. The new face on Krok is not in any way based on the tooling from Skullcruncher. So you know for certain that the Titan Master and the actual figure aren't molded together? Even though the Titan Master is shared between each release of the mold; which if they weren't molded together, there wouldn't be any reason for?

I'd say, that, since the headmaster is likely a separate mold entirely, it's possible that they include several additional face's, since now, it's easy to recolor a figure and release it with minimal changes

Not quite. That's what I thought at first, but the Titan Masters are gang-molded with certain parts of the main figure like some accessories are. That's why the Stylor mold is spread across at least 4 different figures, since Chromedome and Blurr share parts. Leo Prime and Convobat are nothing more than TakaraTomy being more willing than Hasbro to discard excess cast parts.

I'm still hunting for Triggerhappy, but he is an instant buy. That figure looks amazing, and he and Misfire wouldn't be displayed near each other either, so it would be safe to have both sharing a mold

Considering Takara plays a bit more fast and loose with molds than Hasbro - like Jelze said above - I'm gonna go ahead and say that's not the best example.
They're essentially accessories, but surely the Titan Master being the exact same between releases of the same mold indicates something?

But even then, it doesnt matter because the face itself is a new piece. The face of Krok is not a retool of Skullsmasher's face right? We can agree its a new piece?





If its new piece, then no change was done to skullsmasher's tooling to make Krok's face from Skullsmasher's. And no change to tooling means its not a retool.

So just to recap, you have a new part added to a head, and its a head which may or may not even be part of the initial bot's tooling. That is now 2 degrees removed from being a retool.

Why cant we just call these redecos with new heads?

Yes, for Krok the face plate was exchanged and nothing else. To most, that already qualifies as a "retool" using the fan-made "exchanged parts" definition and not the official "permanent change" one.

I think we can all agree that Titan Masters that are shared between two figures at the very least hint at a relation between the molds, right? Look at Alpha Trion and Broadside, and Blurr and Chromedome. The pairs share parts at the very least, that can happen even with two different design bases. I do not consider them retools using either definition, even if they have parts in common.

Back to the Titan Masters being tied to the larger figures, TakaraTomy releasing them on their own is nothing new. They have a habit of releasing gang-molded accessories separate from their parent toolings, which included the Energon Weapons from the Energon Omnicon and Terrorcons, and the Power Core Combiners Mini-Cons.

I'd definitely call the left one a retool of the right one, since the left one appears to have articulated fingers while the right has solid piece fists.

My opinion theory about the Windblade situation? Some character is getting released with a strange new name (e.g. 'Windvane') and the guy simply misread it. Or the whole thing is partially made up. Do retailers actually get info on what is a retool of what? (Just a doubt, I'm not discrediting the guy).

At the very least retailers get names and sample images, providing incentive. No other info, so I'm thinking he's just guessing.

more proof that hasbro doesnt have a clue, how does sending out a solid case of a single figure or a case with the figures that clogged shelves going to help things? All this is going to do is make sure wave 3 and possibly 4 never arrive. Yeah its great for those who couldnt find mindwipe but after they buy one theres still going to be more clogging shleves, would've been smarter to split the case with wolfwire or just send out more of the standard wave 2 case.

Plus Voyager Prime isn't exactly G1. Or Kroc for that matter.

Kroc was originally an Action Master. That's from the tail end of the G1 line in the United States. Krok is G1, my friend.

If Windblade's Titan Master ends up as Nijika, I could then see the Takara release of the figure instead being redecoed into a full sized transformable Transtector body toy of Nijika herself, enabling the two sisters to appear alongside one another with both of them as Transformers.
