Bearing in mind that this is total speculation, I'd theorise that we'll see a proper Rodimus Prime in PotP - though maybe not the exact way you'd hope. Second, you're seriously calling the trailer/camper shell that turns into a battle station "near-functionless" in the context of Titans Return/Power of the Primes, where we have small figures who can man the assorted stations of base modes and additional weapons that can be mounted at the additional ports there, and the gimmick of linking base modes to one another?

My comment was based only on how he should scale. I can imagine that the integrated trailer might make it necessary to make him a Leader class instead of a voyager. After all, on the matter of scaling, Blaster would have been better as a Voyager. They probably made him a leader for the cassette/data padd gimmick.

Fair enough, to each their own with what constitutes a proper Rodimus Prime. Personally all I mind is if he has (relatively) the proper robot and vehicle modes, but I can understand a separate trailer also being an important factor for many - especially those whose ideal of the character was shaped by the original toy, which mine hasn't been personally.

And I hadn't even considered the trailer-as-base concept . That would work quite well with Titan Masters actually, I do agree there now that I think about it, but do we know yet what the gimmick for PotP will be? I know there are rumours/speculation that it'll be a similar set of tiny robots to man bases, but I also remember that there were sources claiming it'd be a digital-integration scan system like RiD, some TLK stuff and a lot of Hasbro's other things. Have we got a solid idea yet which (if either) it'll be? 'Cause if it does turn out to be something other than more tiny guys, backward-compatibility aside the trailer goes right back to being a cool-looking but expensive accessory that does very little else to justify its addition to the cost of the figure.

Actually just thought I'd respond to this too since it was already something I was thinking about. Being a sci-fi vehicle, the exact scale of Roddy's vehicle mode doesn't bother me too much (at least not nearly as much so as, say, TR Optimus' truck mode does) - so long as it has more overall volume than his compatriots which seems likely with anything from Voyager-size upward, integrated or not. Again I totally understand if others' preferences are different from mine here, but my ideal size would be approximately that of Deluxe Hot Rod with a trailer (of about 1 to 1.5x his own size) whacked on the back; of course I'd need to actually see a hypothetical integrated Voyager Rodimus toy in order to determine if it would hit that sweet spot, but from what I can picture mentally it seems like it would probably be about that ballpark.

Man, I went overboard, sorry. Guess I'm just having too much fun dreaming up the multitude of possible routes an updated Rodimus Prime could take, in any form.

I once again feel the best route would be using the Leader class to give us a Voyager (or Voyager-ish) figure of Rodimus with the rest of the price point going towards the trailer. Same for Optimus. Surely the latter at least would be an easy sell! And they've shown they wouldn't shy away from such a thing with Squeaks in the TLK line.

Of course, the thing I want most would be a MTMTE-inspired Rodimus, but in my heart I know that day will never come outside of third parties.

One thing is pretty sure.

Rodimus PRIME will be for the line Power of the PRIMES.
It just make sense.

As for how he will be, it will depend of that mainline theme/gimmick.

And yet the recent Voyager Optimus/Octone figure does all this quite well, so there is some substantiation to the idea of an integrated trailer on a Voyager Rodimus working well.

True dat! We are all talking about Rodimus, but what will the new Primal be like??

I'd love to see a modern revamp of Primal - his original design is an absolute classic and his MP's on my wishlist, but if the vote is making him a Prime... I'd like to see a bit more change than what happened with Hot Rod to Rodimus.

While we are speculating, do we know when the two remaining box set (Intelligence and Firepower) will be reveal and release?

Is that figure's cab wide enough that the space inside could be configured to seat two Titan Masters side-by-side, though? I ask because that's how wide Rodimus Prime ought to be. Plus unlike the tanker trailer on Octanemus, Roddy's trailer/camper shell is taller and wider than his cab, and very boxy, so that would affect the mass distribution.

Another factor is character design accuracy; Rodimus Prime's character model is very plainly designed with his trailer/camper shell being separate as it is on the original toy. There's no two ways about that; Titrod is incredibly chunky in comparison due to the integrated trailer.

I know that however they do him he's more likely to be PotP than TR, but I do still kinda hope he'll be a Headmaster; I mean, be a shame for that face to go to waste right?

Getting off Roddy, am I the only one amused by the idea of Headmaster versions of Ratchet and Ironhide?

My best guess is Fall and Winter, with reveals in late Summer. 4 sets, 4 seasons.

I feel a bit sheepish now, may have been worrying for nothing about the suitability of Voyager class for a separate-trailer Roddy now that I actually did some comparisons (you may feel free to mock me). The original Rodimus Prime toy sizes well next to Titans Return Hot Rod in vehicle mode and seems to be of lesser mass than Titans Return Galvatron, and the robot mode is barely a head shorter than Galvy.
