For some reason, the takara version was way cheaper to get than the hasbro version (issued in the Universe line) which are identical. They each come individually boxed and they both have painted details instead of stickers, unlike the initial release, so I have no clue why the Hasbro versions are double the price. And I preffer the Takara box so it's a win all around. They were 5$ US each and 5$ to ship each, so 60$ all around and I wont regret it. These little trains are great!

1992 4Ever!!!!!

Very nice! We need more train Transformers (and a full sized, CW, train combiner!).

Yeah, verrrrry nice little haul. As far as I can see, the Takara reissue is identical to the Hasbro version. Makes me wonder why there's a price difference.

Finally.TAV PG has arrived.

Brighter red. Brighter face paint and tighter joints for his two rear aerilons (my Hasbro version's left is very loose)

Also confirming he's chest is molded to fit the scan decal gimmick and his arm missile pods are painted.

So I walk into my local TRU today, hoping to pick up a couple of Legends class figures, namely Skywarp and Groove, and what do I find? The BIG GUY himself! They had 3 Devastators on the shelf! So of course I picked 1 up, along with Skywarp. After my 15% discount, they were $155 richer, and I am a hell of a lot happier! Image

Hell yeah, score! I applied for and was approved for a TRU credit card on the spot, and it paid for it, so it didn't even come out of my bank account. I have to pay it back of course. But 6 payments of $30 are better than $150 at once. :KREMZEEK:

Found Devy at my TRU as well. Didn't have enough money at the moment to feel comfortable buying him though...

My score is a bit smaller, but way more satisfying.

RID Warriors are 20$+tx at TrU normally. The new exclusive Clash of the Warriors repaints are 22$ just because. I wanted one to keep sealed in my MOSC collection, but I do have a rule. Buy only on sale. I still went to my TrU because Payday, for some TF browsing. Here they are, the exclusive Warriors and over them the label say... 19.99$. I check carefully, it's written "RID Warriors" on the label. Other normal warriors have the same label at 19.99$. No 21.99$ label everywhere. I spot a single Sideswipe among lots of Optimuses and Bees and I grab it.

Then I use the price-check machine and scan it... 21.99$. It was under the 19.99$ label. :-?

With a devilish grin, I go to the cashier and complete my purchase...
"21.99+tx sir."
"Waaaait... I said. Arent these 19.99$? There is no 21.99$ labels anywhere."
"Lemme check sir."
Clerk go check.
"Confirmed. So, it will be 19.99$ - 10$ because of the wrong labbeling, so it will be 9.99$+tx".
"SOLD!"

Gotta love that special Quebec law against wrong labbeling. As you can see, it's the lower price minus 10$ for "damages". If the thing was below 10$ in value, the thing is free. So many TFs I got for cheap this way!

Let's hope they did the same mistake. If there is no labels at all over the pegs of the Exclusive TFs, you'll be out of luck.

Ok, Oh and could you send some pics of it once you unwrap it so we can see it better. There arent any in hand pics around since they didnt get to the US yet. Could you let us know your thoughts, since I heard the mold didnt tab well in robot mode.

Sorry to dissapoint, but this guy will remain sealed. It's for my MOSC collection and I didnt had any RID 2015 deluxe yet. A rarer exclusive is the perfect thing for that collection. :-B

I plan to get either the normal Hasbro Sideswipe or the TAV one eventually. To open and play with, of course.

Yes  , but I'm starting to feel its irrational. So question for the group: Do you keep the boxes? If so is it worth it? And, how do you store them?

I was just thinking today that I should either ditch them or toss the plastic and break the boxes down. But without the plastic insert, what good is the box?

Advice, suggestions, thoughts?

I dont unless its a cool takara box for the fun of it. I also keep my MP boxes since that is what I store my MPs in with all their accessories when I am not posing them. But generally I dont keep a box.
A recent figure is worth the same loose regardless if you have the box or card since it is considered loose. Vintage toys are different of course but our toys will never be equal to those since we are all taking care of our toys much better now than we did in the 80s. If you are going to take the toy out of it's box to play with it or pose it, it will retain the same value if you keep the box or not. A buyer will claim it to be just as used and not mint. The only difference is that you have to store the box between now and the time you eventually want to sell your toys.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the figure itself. Nice tight joints and everything tabs in just fine. Paint apps are meh. Shoulder cannon is a bit floppy. On the whole, I'm quite pleased.

Kind of same as Will. I only keep boxes whole if they are Japanese toys. Especially MPs. I do however have a file cabinet where I file all instructions, card backs, and anything bigger than Deluxe, I cut the back off the box and file it away. It's really become more habit than anything else, but some day when I'm 6 feet under my daughters have a full record of everything, and can get rich off my dirty habit.

Mine is also more out of habit. I have a hard time throwing stuff away. I'm not a hoarder! I decided this morning to take baby steps and get rid of all the plastic and break the boxes down. They should only take up a fraction of the space. Also, ditto on MP, Takara or any other really interesting stuff.

Easily one of my favorite Prime figures. You should find his transformation to be quite satisfying. I don't need/want the FE version, but I wouldn't mind getting to transform it at least once.

Whoa! He IS really nice. I've never been a fan of "panel forming", and the PRID toys are full of it, but the more of them I acquire, the more it grows on me. When it works well it really works. It really works for Vehicon. I love how the whole freakin' car folds up into his legs and he is still rockin' the sexy-cool high heel Prince boots.
My first thought with his arms was WHAT THE ... but then I started posing him and was quickly impressed. I also didn't realize just how :CON: black and purple he was. That always works on me. The auto head flip is a nice touch. To bad I waited so long. If he was reg reets (regular retail) I would army build my face off with this guy.

A++ for Vehicon. ;)^
