Anyway, your challenge is to put Longhaul in truck mode without instructions. Hint: the legs are quite challenging to fold just right.
I did it, it wasnt bad. The back legs were easy, the front were odd. You have to just keep rotating them, it almost makes a full circle of leg. And then magically, as I kept titling the legs, everything came together. This is a great quality toy with a bunch of very nice non intrusive gimmicks. Like working pistons and mech alive chest. I like how the dumping tray can be elevated and is fully functional. While he does have the movie aesthetic, he is a good Transformer with some nice alt mode integration, a very solid transformation and a great super playable alt mode. And like I wrote before, the plastic is top notch and the paint detail is spectacular. A far cry from what we have today. However, not everything of before is better than today like...
That Alternator OP... Will you love it, or hate it like me?
This toy blows. I like Alternators so I figured worst case I could have an interesting toy. But it is really boring. Unlike other alternators, the Transformation is really obvious and dull and quite unsatisfying with a crappy end result. There are too many moving parts and for simple transformation, it is really time consuming and annoying (not unlike other Alternators). And the robot mode just looks clumsy. I hate how the legs transform, its just so plain for an alternator. I will be selling this toy for 20$ on Kijiji (thats how much I paid for it) after writing this. I am glad I got to try him out because at least I no longer feel any jealousy for those who were able to buy him back in the day. Oh and his parts fall off all the time. Nice head sculpt though.
More details about Fallen plz!
Sure! Dont know if he's one of the better titanium figures, but I dont really have problems with him. His heft makes him look to me more like a statue that I can transform back and forth and pose a bit rather than a toy I can play with. What I love is how while the transformation is a little simpler, both modes look great and the design doesnt seem to favor one over the other. They both look powerful and menacing yet also sleek in a way. His head, hands and feet can be found on the vehicle mode but they blend into the alt mode and dont stick out at all. His hands seem to serve a totally different detail in either mold and look more like alt mode decoration than hands in robot mode. The tank's turret rotates, but a bit too far back. And the other negative point is that the tank thread panels in the back are too heavy to stay folded up in robot mode. That doesnt change anything though, it just means he has a tab more kibble in the back. But you could see it as a coattail from hell. And the paint is out of this world, everything is painted. This was not a cheap toy to make. He also has loads of details all across his sculpt. These nice asymmetric lines like he was made of molten lava. It's an amazing effect, and I am glad I own this guy. Also, this is the only figure of the Fallen we have for the G1 continuity (we do have figures for the movie and RID lines of course).

-Kanrabat- wrote:Your fave between Sandstorm and Springer?
Well Sandstorm has a great car mode, except for that orange flap since it does look inside out. I havent held Springer in a while but holding these other guys kind of makes me sad at the cheaper plastic being used on sandstorm and how light and hollow he feels. Great transformations though. I really love how the Helicopter mode comes together and how you flip the car wheels to give VTOL propellers. Thats super smart. But I do preffer Drift's copter for the blade and how it looks more like a copter. I dont like those car parts on the side of the copter cockpit with Sandstorm. And while he does fit together better than Springer, I much preffer Springer's leaner robot mode. The backpack on Sandstorm is huge.
So in the end, Springer has a better robot and copter mode and the car modes for both of them are as good. Still glad I have him though, and I didnt have to pay 30$ either.
