Yes well that may be partly true, BUT ... take a look at the inner robots. For the most part, they look and transform the same (arms fold over, legs fold up), the only thing that differentiates them is the accessories and that's what changes what they transform into.

Flash forward to Combiner Wars, you have your base structure, of which small things are changed to differentiate the characters.

Old idea given a modern make over.

Don't blame Pretenders for Alpha Bravo though. That's just one seriously **** up joke.

At first I didn't get the reference so I also rechecked Lander and the gang. Barring the elbow articulation, yes, arms and legs down to the hollow parts. Proto-CW.

Back to toy hauls, just picked up Doc Ratchet. Hopefully he won't flake on me tonight.

Great figure. One thing I really like is, even though there are minimal paint apps, the color layout is great just through the use of different color plastics.

I'd much rather multiple plastics over paint. Looks nice and doesn't flake off. That is one great toy... oh yeah, I nabbed him the other day too. Well off to the botcave!

I went on a great TF hunting quest today.

First, work in the morning. Then, at 11-ish AM, I'm at the subway station to go to the next town, Montréal. A cool new way to travel is the 24H unlimited pass for 10$. Usually, the fare is 3.25$ so it's awesome for one day of mad shopping at unusual places.

First stop, a flea market. The good kiosk was open so I could score myself a bunch of fun gobots plus one awesome UFO: BANDAI BeetleBorgs BORON Action figure Metallix 1997 Saban's power rangers (Thank you Ebay for this mouthful!) It's pretty beat up and is missing most of the bug legs. However, it's bad-ass and HEAVY. So much diecast!

Next is a MTG Lilliana Vess figure found randomly at EB-Games. 10$CAN? Why not? It's the first MTG thing I bought in years.

I went to the TrU at the east end of Montreal and I was lucky as hell. CW ONSLAUGHT AT LAST! THE ONLY ONE LEFT! Completely misplaced. Maybe "hidden" by someone else. BUT I FOUND IT! Now Bruticus can finally be complete! The sad thing is my Galvatronus will have to give one of his Blastoff for the Cause. Untill I find another...



It was a pretty fun hunt. I'll do this again in a couple of months.
(BTW, I found RID Quillfire but I don't want to pay 20$ for it. So I passed.)

Picked up Titanium War Within Megatron actually. I wasn't going to at first, but an ebay seller was doing a reduced price with it and seemed like a good deal. I'm actually mostly happy with it.

Last hunting quest at Montreal for a while. I went to a huge flea market even farther east and got myself a sealed Armada Cyclonus and Smokescreen! A pretty good deal at 20$CAN each. No taxes of course. Unfortunately, not much other TFs over there.



Also, I got my Platinum YOTM Optimus Primal from Amazon already! A pretty great deal at 80-ish CAN$ shipped. It may even be 10 or 15 CAN$ less expensive if they refund me the import charges in a week or two! A far cry from the 230$CAN if I had bought it at my local TrU. Even though I once had the original and sold it, I'm pretty happy with it and he look quite bad-ass in a Optimus display. Pretty worth it for the regular full price of a leader figure, but no more.

Related to my haul above, my CW Bruticus is finally complete! I'm pretty happy with it and he's different enough from Defensor to be worth it. He also look quite good with his upgraded Energon cousin.



I should have remembered this French saying when I said I'd never buy CW Bruticus nor YOTM Optimus Primal: Ne jamais dire "Fontaine, je ne boirais jamais de ton eau".
(Never say "fountain, I shall never drink your water".)

That leg broke? It can surely be glued back. When I had it, he didnt break because I kinda was too afraid to transform him due to the already weak leg.

I could trade it back for something. My lab is always in need of some more corpses.

Found Wreck-Gar yesterday.
He's fun. Really impressed with the paint apps they put on this figure.
But not as impressed as I am with the skill at which he dispatched those Reflector chumps.

The leg has been glued but I dont think I will ever transform him again for the fear of it breaking off. Since he does have his accessory and all his parts, I will be looking for a junker to from now on who has a decent leg. That will teach me to pay anything for toys that have slight problems.

Make me think about the time when I had a "great deal" on a G1 Double Dealer but I didnt pay attention to the fact that he was missing the elusive chest peice part. I had to finally pay 30$ for the damn thing, thus bringing the overall price to the very regular one.

Anyway, you hunt for TF way more than I do. Finding a junker AAOP is not out of possibility. I'll keep an eye open for one too on my end. In return, try to find a Cybertron Supreme Starscream that have all his body parts. There's a custom project I really want to do.
