As goofy as rid grimlock might look, he is way less goofy looking than the animated Grimlock toy.

And here is a place to get the MP for as cheap as possible http://www.ebay.ca/sch/m.html?_odkw=&_s ... k&_sacat=0

Ah thanks, Hm still not cheap enough when most want 40 dollars just for shipping too. I'd rather a smaller one if possible. But yeah I'm quite happy with my WfC Grimlock with his upgrades and minor repainting I did.

And yeah the Animated one is goofy. The dino mode was kinda fun to play with but I really dislike the robot form. Especially the arms. It's definitely going on the sell shelf. He's complete with his sword so should do ok.

Was in Cambridge yesterday. Couldn't find any Titans except the crappy little heads (seriously why did they choose the original Nightbeat head as the basis for that Nightbeat when we all love him with the Siren shades Marvel used for him...and why have THAT expression?). Wasted trip really.

Anyways I finally sorted out the movie Mixmaster and Jetfire that came with the Animated lot I got on Monday. Jetfire is missing his cane and missile launcher but otherwise seems complete and in good condition with workintg electronics. Mixmaster needed the most reassembling but he seems complete with all his little pieces and parts and even his missile. Still can't get over how I got all these TFs for £35. Bargain. :D
Image

Jetfire could use some dusting but given the character's age and how he spent most of the time hiding in jet form he probably would have a lot of dust. :P

I'm sure the horse is already beat to death, but I guess I'll give my opinion as well. Hardhead's a pretty good figure. The plastic is no worse than CW and the joints are mostly tight enough. The elbows were a little loose but they were tightened up with floor polish easily. Overall he's fun and I really like him.

Walmart had the rest of wave as well (two of each of the others actually), but their Black Series figures were on rollback for $15 instead of $20, so I picked up Kanan Jarrus from Rebels, instead.

Guess I'll have to order me that Hardhead online cos there's no shops around where I live and I ain't paying £6.40 busfare to cambridge multiple times to check if Toys R Us finally got them in or not...

I know you didn't ask me but I've seen some talk on this mold and I wanted to chime in. I could have gotten either Tak's or Has' for about the same price and I choose the crazy colors Habrah version.

I really like the mold, but I wish it was voyager sized. Plane mold is OK with the exception of his crazy feet hanging off the back. I really don't get the beast feet at all. I love the samurai peacock feathers and is the reason I went with Has, that and the extra pew pew. Articulation is OK except for the arms but I've been able to achieve what I've wanted with the figure so far.

I see him as a heavy weapons kinda guy and he has become part of Starscream's post apocalyptic rogue crew.

Something about your criticism bugs me. And I've heard it a lot from the fandom in general. It's that the transformation isn't "inspired". I've been thinking, does it always have to be?

It's not that I don't appreciate the seeming wizardry of toys like MP Ironhide, but I don't need to be amazing by every TF I hold. Simplicity goes a long way. Some of my favorite TF's are the simplest ones out there, like flipchangers (BW Rattrap and Terrorsaur). Sure Dready has "look, I'ma robot under a jet" syndrome, but it's a common ailment and he's not the worst offender.

I am all for simplicity ad I love Terrorsaur. I actually think he is quite inspired, especially for that gorgeous alt mode integration on his chest and how the flaps on his arms go a long way in beast mode. Its just not sleek on Dreadwing. Leader Jetfire stores it pretty sleek even though its not the world's best tansformation (with very little alt mode integration) but Dreadwing just doesnt. I have a hard time with those feet too, they look quite out of place. What would have been cool is if they folded itno his legs, kinda like how DOTM Shockwave's feet do in Tank Mode. So while I find beauty in simplicity, I do not see any effort here to convey the beauty. He's not even as simple as others which have a similar alt mode problem (like the Animated activator seekers, who are awesome). In the end, I just feel like he lacks elegance.

I am very happy you like him of course, I feel all TFs deserve love. I just wanted to explain my point of view.

And thanks for your input Cary, I totally agree on those beast feet as you see. Though I like this toy as a deluxe, we already have a Dreadwing Voyager who I find has a better mold.

It's that mid sized RiD Grimlock with the translucent orange armor.

Menosaur hips were the good ones, but Blackjack won't stay on place.

Blackjack was always loose, that flaw wasnt going to change. That said, I have G2 Menasor with Blackjack on his chest on a shelf and he stays there. I dont shake him of course, but he's able to stay on. Glad to know they are indeed the good hips.

And glad to know you got that Grimlock! He does everything a good Grimlock toy should do and more! I have no complaints. Plus he scales well with the legion figures. Please let me know how you find him :)

Nice score Grim! Can't wait to find Wheelie.

Will, I checked out that haul. I'v seen you and Kan talking about those. They are super cool and give me a case of the wants, but they're so BIG. Not sure I could accommodate them in the 'Tron. :(

Iron, if it means anything to ya, I think that lil Grimlock is the dope sauce! ;)^
The Prime is really good too. Sideswipe, not so much.

Oh, and my G2 Blackjack's connection to MM is as wonky as my G1.

Ironhidensh, while I also have Prime, I cant give him my seal of approval. The robot mode is good, so is articulation, plastic quality, and clear plastic accessories. But, well... there's this:

That RID Scout Prime vehicle mode.

Anyway, got myself a haul of TFs that I said I'll NEVER buy. Again.

Image

The Platinum Inecticons! :KREMZEEK:
I wanted that straight reissue of the G1 Insecticons for a while, especially Kickback, a childhood favorite that I NEVER had for some reason. The initial 110$CAN price was ridiculous. The "clearance" 70$CAN wasn't better. But now, that "we are tired to see it warm the shelves" 50$CAN was a deal too good to pass! It was also their last box and the Insecticons were gone from the TrU site for a while also. Cant wait to fiddle with them!

BTW, I found TWO sets of instructions and stickers inside! So, should I use the spare for my customs, or should I sell them? :-?

Image

Next is a legion RiD figure. I found them way too tiny for the price so I skipped them all. But here it is, ULTRA MAGNUS! Yes, it's just a straight Optimus repaint, but it's a relevant one and would fit well for my Magnus shrine. Also, it was on sale at "only" 7$CAN instead of 9$CAN. So, back to the regular price of old. Fair enough. It's a nice little figure with a nice transformation and a great vehicle mode! Also, the flaw of the exposed hollowness of the arms work perfectly for Magnus, making a direct callback to his traditional G1 vehicle mode. Nice!
