I'm Brazilian and I'm writing this post in two languages. Please excuse me if there are any spelling errors.

I have a personal project to develop an APP to manage Transformers toy collections, allowing you to mark the items you own, want to buy, already had and other things that we love to create statistics.

This project has been stopped for many years because building a database with all the toys ever released is a very big job. The fact that each year they release more toys increases the updating effort even more.

Today, we even have APPs on the official websites of operating systems (Google, Apple, Microsoft, etc). In addition to being doubtful, they all suffer from the same problem: an incomplete database.

This is the kind of work that can only be done collaboratively.

Here's the example of the TFWiki site or even the community here. It is impossible for a single person to gather, elaborate and format so much information.

Therefore, I would like to propose a work together with other collectors who are interested in contributing to build a collaborative database, making it available in Kaggle or in some other public repository.

My proposal:

• Gather people who understand data modeling;
• Bring together people who do not understand data, but have the time and willingness to contribute by ingesting data. Basically copy and paste information;
• Discuss how much of this has already been done before it can be reused. I've searched and haven't found much.
• Discuss best modeling practices to define an efficient and lean structure that can really be used by anyone;
• Build and document the model so that it can be truly collaborative;
• Develop and document a process for continuous and collaborative updating;
• Publish the database in a public repository that allows other people to have access to collaborate with the information;
• Update and increase data in the database gradually.

I am sure that this initiative will help to evolve and make possible many other projects, personal or even commercial. It's an effort that will have future benefits for fans of the franchise.

Sou brasileiro e estou escrevendo essa postagem em dois idiomas. Por favor, me desculpem se tiver algum erro de ortografia.

Tenho um projeto pessoal em desenvolver um APP para gerenciar coleções de brinquedos de Transformers, permitindo marcar os itens que possui, deseja comprar, já teve e outras coisas que adoramos para criar estatísticas.

Esse projeto está parado faz muito anos porque construir um banco de dados com todos os brinquedos já lançados é um trabalho muito grande. O fato de cada ano lançarem mais brinquedos aumenta ainda mais o esforço de atualização.

Hoje, até temos APP nos sites oficiais dos sistemas operacionais (Google, Apple, Microsoft, etc). Além de duvidosos, todos sofrem do mesmo problema: banco de dados incompleto.

Esse é o tipo de trabalho que só é possível fazer de forma colaborativa.

Fica o exemplo do site TFWiki ou até mesmo a comunidade aqui. É impossível uma pessoa sozinha reunir, elaborar e formatar tanta informação.

Por isso, gostaria de propor um trabalho em conjunto outros colecionadores que tenham interessem em contribuir para construirmos uma base de dados colaborativa, disponibilizando no Kaggle ou em algum outro repositório público.

Minha proposta:

• Reunir pessoas que entendam de modelagem de dados;
• Reunir pessoas que não entendam de dados, mas tem tempo e disposição para contribuir, fazendo ingestão de dados. Basicamente copiar e colar informações;
• Discutir o quanto disso já foi feito antes que possa ser reaproveitado. Já pesquisei e não encontrei muita coisa.
• Discutir melhores práticas de modelagem para definir uma estrutura eficiente e enxuta que realmente possa ser usada por qualquer um;
• Construir e documentar o modelo para que possa ser realmente colaborativo;
• Elaborar e documentar um processo para atualização continua e colaborativa;
• Publicar o banco de dados em um repositório público que permita outras pessoas terem acesso colaborarem com as informações;
• Atualizar e incrementar dados no banco de forma gradativa.

Tenho certeza de que essa iniciativa vai ajudar a evoluir e viabilizar muitos outros projetos, pessoais ou até comerciais. É um esforço que trará benefícios futuros para os fãs da franquia.

This is how the big toy collector databases do it like MyFigureCollection.net (for Japanese toys) and Shmax.com (which already has a pretty complete Transformers database with over 17K entries).
