This is something that the original Classics did not change including the repaint Botcon ones. Astrotrain was still a Shuttle and a Train, Prime a truck and Megatron a Gun (A Nerf gun but still a gun). What Hasbro should have done is make Onslaught some sort of military troop carrying truck at the very least.

Not quite.
There were concept sketches of Sunstreaker, Sideswipe and Octane.
The protypes for Cosmos and Arcee were cancelled Titaniums, unrelated to Classic/Universe.
No idea about Shockwave, but I haven't seen anything of him.

Classics 2.0 isnt the offical name of the line, Universe is, so no they dont have to keep in the same vein as classics by having them as soley Updates of their G1 Counterparts!

Didn't Hasbro release all the energon combiner pieces in different waves? I didn't like it, but they did release a limb here, a body there. It took months to complete your combiner. Sadly it could be the same here, expecially since they probably want to have wave 1 have a variety of figures in it, and they are only having 5 figures in the wave. If they did a whole combiner, they wouldn't have anything else!

Exactly. Besides Classics did contain reinventions (Megatron, Astrotrain). Onslaught doesn't seem to be a reinvention much more than Megatron or Astrotrain were. He's still an armoured truck with twin cannons, just a SWAT truck instead of a military truck.
I would have really liked to see a more G1ish head sculpt, but the body and paint job are great and very reminiscent of the G1 figure (but improved).
I'm certainly hanging out to see more pics of this figure

Don't know about a Hardhead repaint, he has to have a big artillery cannon for him to be Hardhead to me.
Scaleface, what I'm curious about is - if they do release the whole group and they do combine (two very big 'ifs' at this early stage) - how do Hasbro release the combiner's extra pieces (fists, head, breastplate etc). How did they do it with the energon combiners you mentioned? Do they come with the last figure released? Is there a separate pack?
shortround wrote:God I hope if he turns out to be part of a combiner he isn't a modified energon combiner that would really suck big time no large robot hands, foot piece and no gun for the larger robot. I would rather have no combiner than another one of those. I hope if this does turn out to be a combiner he is updated g1 combiner and not another combiner like the classics constucticons.
