Classics 2.0 isnt the offical name of the line, Universe is, so no they dont have to keep in the same vein as classics by having them as soley Updates of their G1 Counterparts!

Didnt they show early prototype designs of Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Octane,Cosmos, Arcee, shockwave and a few other randoms so my guess is that its more or less out of these lot rather than have other Combaticons.

Freaking Sweet!!!! I can't wait for this one! As for the other wave one figures, I predict they will be Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Prowl, and Octane.

It looks cool but I'm happy with my oversized ko Onslaught. That said, if I see him he's bought.

Love the Classics and Universe lines anyway but would love to see some Basics, even repaints such as Energon Divebomb as Banzai-tron (who's appearing in the IDW comics) and RM Mirage as Dragstrip.

Not quite.
There were concept sketches of Sunstreaker, Sideswipe and Octane.

The protypes for Cosmos and Arcee were cancelled Titaniums, unrelated to Classic/Universe.

No idea about Shockwave, but I haven't seen anything of him.

It will be in regular stores like Walmart and Target, most likely. It's part of the regular line... sadly it's part of the line for Fall of 2008!

Exactly. Besides Classics did contain reinventions (Megatron, Astrotrain). Onslaught doesn't seem to be a reinvention much more than Megatron or Astrotrain were. He's still an armoured truck with twin cannons, just a SWAT truck instead of a military truck.

I would have really liked to see a more G1ish head sculpt, but the body and paint job are great and very reminiscent of the G1 figure (but improved).

I'm certainly hanging out to see more pics of this figure :)

Didn't Hasbro release all the energon combiner pieces in different waves? I didn't like it, but they did release a limb here, a body there. It took months to complete your combiner. Sadly it could be the same here, expecially since they probably want to have wave 1 have a variety of figures in it, and they are only having 5 figures in the wave. If they did a whole combiner, they wouldn't have anything else!

Don't know about a Hardhead repaint, he has to have a big artillery cannon for him to be Hardhead to me.

Scaleface, what I'm curious about is - if they do release the whole group and they do combine (two very big 'ifs' at this early stage) - how do Hasbro release the combiner's extra pieces (fists, head, breastplate etc). How did they do it with the energon combiners you mentioned? Do they come with the last figure released? Is there a separate pack?

Maybe the original military truck is obsolete now. Newer models won't fit into the G1 Onslaught format. So it's ok to take on a civilian police truck instead.

If they can make this form capable of combining with the others, then so much the better.

Seems like Onlaught will be stand alone only. I can live with that if they manage to at least bring out the rest of his team in equal good treatment as deluxes down the road. I always did like Swindle.

As for the Titanium molds the only decent one was Cosmos. The rest suffered from the lack of flexability that the Titanium line offered. Cosmos would look good in plastic, the rest would look like cheap garbage.

If we do see an Arcee G1 car mode I really hope that one isn't it.

After looking at him a couple of times he kind of looks like a modified version of one of the train brothers. So he could very well combine with four other figures they just hid the aspects that combine with the other figures really well just as they did with the train brothers.

Thanks Auto bot. Don't suppose you've got the other ones, if they exist that is? Shockwave, etc? I ~think~ I saw them before, I don't know if it was just confirmation of the ideas, or designs, or proper prototypes.

With the Energon combiners each figure had a weapon that transformed into either a claw/hand, or a foot/claw for the gestalt. no chest plates or additional weapons since by design the combiners could not hold them.

We haven't seen fists and feet and accessories like the ones from G1 since G1.

The gestalt's head will probably be concealed in the larger robot somehow. For example in the Energon combiners, Stormjet had Superion's head inside the cockpit. Barricade had Bruticus's head in the truck cab, and Steamhammer had Devy's head inside the driver's booth.

If he is to combine, the head is probably concealed in his back somewhere, and we won't see it until we get more pictures.

The Energon combiners did a pretty good job of hiding the fact that they could combine. Take Barricade, unless yo know he combines, it would be hard to tell from a single front facing robot mode picture.

God I hope if he turns out to be part of a combiner he isn't a modified energon combiner that would really suck big time no large robot hands, foot piece and no gun for the larger robot. I would rather have no combiner than another one of those. I hope if this does turn out to be a combiner he is updated g1 combiner and not another combiner like the classics constucticons.

well we could be really lucky and it could be like liokaiser with hands, feet and weapon built into the figures, the only thing that is seperate on liokaiser is the gestalt head!

agreed. Why couldn't the Energon combiners have real fists, that can hold guns, instead of those weird looking claws.

Hopefully if this guy does combine, he;l have real fists.

The vibe is pretty strong at the club that this Onslaught won't combine based on what Pete saw in his reference document. Hasbro never stated it would combine.

So it would be a long shot if it did.
