As far as I'm concerned the only RID 2001 figures that really need a remake are all of the Spy Changers, Skid-Z (Siege Mirage repaint?), and Towline (Hoist repaint?). Everyone else would either be impossible to improve on or already got proper remakes (Sky-Byte and Baldigus/Ruination). Engineering has changed so much now, and while I don't think they'd all be like TFCC Sideburn, they'd be very different. The car brothers wouldn't be worse, they wouldn't be bad figures, but not better, just different. It would be a heck of a challenge for Hasbro, the lack of chrome parts, firing missiles and rubber tires would be hard to counter.

As far as I'm concerned, it's the Autobot Brothers who really need remakes even if they have to be Voyagers to keep the firing missiles. Because here's the thing: The Autobot Brothers' molds died. I also think there's room for improvement on X-Brawn and especially Prowl with regard to what parts are made of what plastic.

I look at the Unicron Trilogy the same way I do G1/G2, just about everything is fair game and can only be improved on with the right effort. RID 2001, on the other hand, feels like sacred ground, it's so good!

The Unicron Trilogy had plenty of good stuff in it too, y'know. And also cool gimmicks without which the toys would feel diminished. And given the differences between CHUG and the UT, especially now, that "right effort" seems unlikely to be forthcoming. Most of the efforts thus far have certainly been watered down (T30 Armada Starscream, SIEGE Galaxy Upgrade Optimus) or outright laughable (Combiner Wars Armada Megatron). The one figure that really made a lot of improvements, Universe Hot Shot, still had its faults: No Axlezooka, Jolt couldn't be a rear propeller, and the Hasbro version was missing the launchers.
The one UT remake I'd really want to see, is something that's a bit of a pipe dream but would be a genuine improvement: A Leader-class (because he'd have to be) Leobreaker, with the arm mode transforming as it was supposed to (instead of the final toy's gimped version) and compatible with the original Cybertron Leader-class Optimus.

By the way, on the subject of RiD 2001 and the Unicron Trilogy... It's totally Omega Prime's fault that Armada Megatron has no back-and-forth hip articulation.

After reading this article, I checked out Best Buy and dang sure, they had Earthrise figures before anyone else in my town. Best Buy is looking real good coming out of the gate.

Hm... I may have to check out Best Buy since everyone seems to be finding Earthrise stuff so easily there. I will say they do have the advantage of not needing to clear Siege product though

White CW Prime serves as my Nova Prime who in my collection isn't a jerk but rather is an Autobot "Commander" who hates and does not partake in fighting in the war but rather going across the galaxy for peaceful negotiations, he serves as one extreme end of the "war morality" for the Autobots with Sentinel Prime being more of the military commander who does whatever it takes to defeat the Decepticons while Optimus is in the middle and is conflicted about fully committing to one side or the other.

I'm actually excited to get Earthrise Optimus since I think stuff like a more accurate sized Matrix and the trailer will make for great accessories.

It's great and all that you and others have them, but like galaxy upgrade prime, an update is a way for people like me that missed them to get one by proxy; your argument holds no water, I want rid'01 prime and magnus and I don't want to drop a ton of money on ebay for a figure with broken rubber tires, it's been 19 years, I think an update is totally fair play, and, like galaxy upgrade prime, does not negate or discount the merit of the original figure for those that do have it

I think they'd largely be better served by competent reissues (As opposed to Encore God Fire Convoy, where Takara was too busy hyping the new voice audio to pay attention to QC elsewhere; and to add insult to injury, flubbed that part)... Except for those figures where that's impossible, like the Autobot Brothers.

It warms my heart to see everyone else wanting more stuff from the post G1 era.There are many great ideas and toys there and it would be awesome to see some of these them updated.

If they can make the new titan masters compatible with the G1 headmaster and make the minicons ports stay mostly the same throughout the years,this idea isn't that far fetched.

I just had a thought regarding a potential Lockdown: What if they use the Runamuck mold and reshell the vehicle mode, and retool the head, hands, and faux chest? They could easily retool the hands to be more like Impactor's if they want to give the option of a hook hand, the faux chest allows them to give Lockdown his usual design without having to alter his vehicle mode, and the front end of the car still ends up as the feet

Got my first Earthrise figure today, but it wasn't who I thought it was going to be...

I went into my local Walmart to pick up a Grapple, as they had the Voyagers, but ended up buying Starscream. :/

In a normal world, I'd want Grapple since he's a new mold and not a redo from Siege over someone I just got in Siege, but there were six Grapples and one Starscream. I believe that's the total number they put out - six of each. All the Screamers were purchased but the one, and NONE of the Grapples. I succumbed to the law of supply and demand. I'll grab Grapple in a week or two, but he's the early shelfwarmer around these parts.

Maybe. The first time I laid eyes on them, there were 4 Screamers. I wasn't there exactly when they put the stuff out, but it had dwindled to the one, with no change in Grapples. It is good to know there's two to one in a case, though.

Happily united Ironworks and Irontread today. It's really fun, great desk fodder, but there is one missed opportunity - If the gun barrels hidden in Irontread's legs were slightly smaller (5mm) they could peg into the ports on Ironworks' deck, and allow him to stand securely on him. As it is, the tip of the barrel does insert into one of the 3mm holes on his deck, but it's loose, and makes it look a bit Captain Morgan.

You sure about that? The target employee that got me my Grapple and Screamer from the back last week during the sale said they were 3 to a case with 2 Grapple and 1 Starscream, and Entertainment Earth's case breakdown says the same thing.

You sure about that? The target employee that got me my Grapple and Screamer from the back last week during the sale said they were 3 to a case with 2 Grapple and 1 Starscream, and Entertainment Earth's case breakdown says the same thing.

Dunno I know siege was 2 per case which is why the boxes are diagonal on one side, so the cases had a smaller profile, same with the leaders, if they’re going away from that then I guess they needed more being sent out per box?

That IS weird that Earthrise Voyagers would be coming in sets of three. The whole reason they designed to boxes the way they did for this trilogy, with the diagonal cutaway, was so that they could save space in shipping boxes by putting the two triangular sides against one another. With three per box, they're wasting some room in the container now. Four would make more sense, as they could just layer two back/front pairings atop one another and not waste any internal space. We're going to need to see an actual case of Earthrise Voyagers now to understand what's going on.

I think this could be a possibility, and it's probably the best we could hope for for Lockdown (given how unlikely it is that he would get his own mold). The design of his arms in particular would lend themselves well to an Impactor-like retool, plus the faux chest would allow for a more Animated-like design. However, being a retool of Runamuck would mean Lockdown would have a sizeable backpack, and he wouldn't tower over other deluxes like previous versions. Also, reshelling the entire car sounds like more effort than Hasbro would put into a non-G1 character, I feel like the most they would probably do is retool the front bumper and roof, as well as add a way to attach an engine block to the hood.

So...has anyone had success finding Earthrise Battlemasters at Best Buy or only the larger figures? Walmarts don't carry them anymore, HP dosen't have them for sale, and all the Targets in my area have been stuck with the Siege Wave 3 (never even got wave 4)
