Another super Optimus? Not interested. Not with a good PotP leader with Orion Pax, and a beautiful Siege voyager.

Edit: Cybertron Prime though? Uh.. Well.. Now I like it slightly more.

While I'm happy we're possibly getting an update to Cybertron Prime, it's the second line in a row where we were close to getting a proper PMOP.

Imagine if this Cybertron influenced Prime could then combine with Rid influenced UM, to create omega prime? Do you think Warden would do that to prove he's not just a G1 purist?

I am pretty sure he does not feel like he has to prove anything other than the fact that he can design good toys.

That would probably depend on if you could combine two Siege Ultra Magnus toys together, since both it and Optimus are the same base mold.

Ehhhhhhh...personally I give him 50-50. While a good deal of the Titans Return Line has some of my favorite figures recently, POTP does almost nothing for me. Combined Wars also had good figures, but was made up soooo many repaints. I understand it was necessary, but mold fatigue was real for me. Siege has some good stuff, but then again there’s no Beast Wars love happening outside of MPs so that gets me down.

YMMV of course, this is all just my opinion.

It may be a drawing, but it's so anal-retentively toy accurate that it has the thigh hollows and the forearm screwholes. And the angled shapes of the chest windows and cab roof are an obvious deliberate difference.

Well, CHUG has by and large been new G1 stuff ever since its beginnings with the Classics line in 2006; that was its big raison d'etre. We did get a new Dinobot in Universe (although he's rarespensive now), a new Rattrap, Rhinox, and Waspinator in Thrilling 30, and just recently a new if kinda dumbed-down Optimal Optimus in POTP so there's that at least (Universe Cheetor doesn't count because he's a messy mashup of Cheetor's original and Transmetal bodies).

The art really looks like the artist interpreted nothing and just copied what he saw on the toys.

Granted the image here isn't a straight repaint but it could user artistic license and could be based on prototypes, but my issue wouldn't be with the cab but the rest of the toy. If the final leader class OP is basically a slightly remoulded UM especially the trailer I'll do my wallet a favour and pass.

So, like many of you, I'm seeing the Ultra Magnus inner bot from the waist down and Cybertron/Galaxy Force Optimus' cab front as the chest.

WHERE'S THE ALT MODE RENDITION?!

Also, since that "inner bot" is voyager sized, it works properly with the possible voyager sized Megatron in the artist rendition!! Huzzah!!

If the forthcoming Leader Optimus is a re-use/mold of Magnus, we should in theory be able to swap trailer armors for them.

Looks like it to me, which is why I mentioned it, but it is an artist's rendition after all so who really knows which Megatron they are using for inspiration..other than the Siege one. :lol:

Every character seen in the new IDW artwork is (besides Windblade) drawn as their Siege toy designs, right down to Shockwave having all of his little attachments in altmode. There is no question about these being the Siege toys in art form (save for, again, Windblade) rather than some sort of "artist interpretations".

I wonder if that means a new winged trailer to match?

Looks good. I may pass on Voyager Prime, since I have not picked him up, and just get leader Prime and Magnus for the face-off shelf.

I don't see why they would use artistic license or a prototype when there's a perfectly fine standard Voyager they could have used instead. Also even us on the outside have known about Voyager Prime since likely before this art was conceived and this comic is clearly intended to tell the story of the toy line so why would they use a stand-in for Prime of all characters? It really doesn't add up and has to represent something that's actually in the works.

I'm really curious to see Leader Prime now since there is a good chance the 'super robot' mode will rock. However, sadly, there is a good chance I'll have to pass on him for budget/space reason. This is funny because after ragging on and on about GEEWUN PURITY I ended up with getting the Siege Voyager Prime in spite of thinking that he make for a really poor 'cybertronian prime' with the intent of displaying him more for his mostly G1-accurate robot mode.

Leader Prime might end up looking really damn solid and more to my tastes for somwhat more 'exotic' Optimus Primes but I'm not sure since he'd be really, really redundant by that point. Decision, decision. I suppose if I like the 'Leader' (more like Voyager+Extra, really) mold more I could always paint the Voyager one as Nemesis Prime, Toxitron or Shattered Glass Prime. :-?

Yep, definitely waiting on Optimus and Magnus, see what the leader Prime gives us. And what the G2 snow camo Megatron looks like before picking that one up
