Looking at Ironhide, give him a generic head and he'd look like good army builder fodder, sort of like what I wanted to do with Quake back in TR :-?

This version here a bit more than the official one but still not really.

TR Deluxe Repugnus is the closest I got so far of what I'd like to have.

I'm fine with the hollow parts of Ironhide, if it was to increase his apparent bulk and stature as a Deluxe Class figure, relative to the likes of Sideswipe, Prowl, etc. It's not anything we haven't seen before, either. The hollowness of the forearms is at least on the "bottom" and not on the "insides" like on many other figures. The hollowness in the chest makes perfect sense, as that's where the head goes in vehicle mode, and it looks fine in robot mode, especially with the nice silver painted detailing in the cockpit. The hollow parts on the back aren't nearly as bad as some early photos made them out to be. There can only be so many Voyager slots in a year, and swapping out someone for Ironhide so that he could have some more mass to fill in some trivial gaps would mean pushing other characters that NEED that Voyager slot to be in scale further out into 2020 or 2021. Being a large Deluxe works for Ironhide, and he seems to scale just right, being a little shorter than Optimus Prime, but more than a head taller than the Deluxe Autobot cars. I can't wait to see how the Walgreens exclusive Ratchet turns out. I hope his helmet is white with a dark gray crest, like the cartoon model. That's all I ask, Hasbro!

I'm hoping the Ratchet figure comes with three alternate heads (it'll never happen, but I can dream :lol:

) that represent his cartoon, comic, and the red crest that has been associated with Ratchet more recently. More than likely though, it'll be the gray crest

Gotta make you wonder: since they seem intent on having a Leader-class Optimus Prime in (almost) every line how long until they run out of Optimus design to homage? And then what, will they just remake the same designs over and over with variations or will this unlock the era of 'bonkers Optimus' where they just invent new ways to engineer that cash cow of a character.

At this rate we'll see 'Starblast Optimus Prime' as a pretool to a Star Saber in the mid 2020. Or a Megatron retooled into a tank Optimus. Or...well, you get the joke. Slap that iconic head and color scheme on anybody big and intimidating looking and you got a toy to fill a wave. :lol:

The Prime fetish is pretty toxic to Transformers in general. It does make you wonder if anything like Beast Wars or the New Character World Building of the Unicron Trilogy could ever happen again?
