Hey guys, I just found out that if you put Siege Refraktor's hidden code (Reflector) onto the Hasbro Teletraan 1 site, you will get a picture of this along with the other goodies:
Siege-Refraktor-Secrete-Message-02.jpg

Does this indicate plans for an exclusive with extra accessories for camera mode, or is this a prototype? :-?

K... due to what others are saying about Siege Starscream and Soundwave, I feel I gotta weigh in. I'm not terribly active here these days, but I think the consensus is Soundwave is best boy and Screamer is meh correct? MAN do I ever have the opposite opinion.

Starscream is the new love of my life. He is SO posable. My lord. Standouts (as in uncommon on a standard figure IMO) double elbow joints, wrist swivel, ankles have tilt/forward/backward(!!!??), waist, and crazy deep knee curl. Waist swivel and ankle tilts seem to be standard in this line, but forward/backward on the ankle is a rare commodity that I'm overjoyed to see. He does have faults, but nothing that's a deal breaker by any means. The leg kibble in jet mode looks bad at certain angles but totally unnoticeable at others. The chest at the back of the jet, don't care. chest piece falling off in general doesn't even bug me because it's at least solid once you get him to either mode.

Just look at the poses!!

Then there's Soundwave. Mine suffered from QC, but it's honestly not what's colored my opinion of him. His butt plate was missing its screw, and fell right off as soon as I opened him. Annoying, but an easy fix though with a screw borrowed from Megatron's butt (he had 3 but can get away with 2).

Image

So people are raving over Soundwave? .... why?
Ok look, I don't expect them to make his alt mode a lamppost, but a generic Cybertronian THING isn't any better. It barely resembles a ship. It's a brick with skis, some junk, and a tiny thing that's like "seriously, I'm a cockpit". I think I find this mode so offensive because it's not as if it's some sort of sacrifice for a third or fourth mode. Cause he can't do the tape deck thing without a 3P piece. And if you're going to tell me that the tape deck mode isn't important, then why go so far as to give him a functional chest door?

The best example of the "satisfy everyone" designs is Siege Shockwave. His base bot mode is perfect, his armored mode and Cybertronian thing mode are fine, but he can also perfectly pull off the G1 gun mode as well! I see nothing sacrificed with his design.

Not to mention, Soundy is missing a couple articulation points that Starscream has (wrists, and feet forward/backward tilt). But I don't mean to **** all over him, he's still pretty nice. Kinda like a miniature MP. But I don't find him nearly as impressive as Starscream.

Image

Image

I closing, Starscream is best boy. and Soundwave is meh :lol:

I'm pretty sure I've seen people put him into a G1-looking tape player mode without the 3P pieces. They probably help the looks, but still. "then why go so far as to give him a functional chest door?" A. To match the cartoon robot mode and B. To let him store minions. Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron Soundwave weren't tape players, but they still had chest doors to stash their little goons in. Cybertron Soundwave's doubles as a bomb chute.

As for what his official altmode is.. I would describe it as a flying cargo barge. It's squat and boxy like a cargo barge, after all. It's not exactly the coolest thing ever, but it looks more alien than an Earthly tape player and perhaps more importantly it looks like something that can move under its own power - which neither a lamp-post nor a tape deck can do (the one silly bit in the cartoon notwithstanding).
WANT:
* Cybertron Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Cyb Jetfire R gun and missile
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* DotM Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* ROTF Jetfire R JTFR panel

I can appreciate Soundwave's "flying brick" alt mode in the context of the other Decepticons in this line that aren't tanks or planes/tetrajets. He's got good company with Shockwave, another flying brick, and now Reflector too. However, I also agree that it's disappointing he didn't have a better "off the shelf" way to approximate his tape deck mode. Shockwave can at least be turned upside down to be in classic laser gun mode, and Reflector can combine with two more of himself to become a camera. Soundwave just gets the lamppost mode. What's weird about THAT, though, is that Hasbro's official configuration for the lamppost looks nothing like MTMTE part 1. You can fanmode a much more screen accurate lamppost than what Hasbro suggests.

Because he still had the functional chest door on Cybertron before coming to Earth in the cartoon. His minions still turned into cassette-like forms that transformed into non-Earth animal robot modes. Laserbeak, for instance, transformed from a cassette-like thing into a little birdish saucer ship robot mode.

Except that that's Road Rage's Masterpiece design.

The current IDW comics use more than just Siege designs. Bumblebee has his MP-21 robot mode, Windblade has her Titans Return toy's robot mode, Cyclonus uses his CW toy design, etc.

Like I said, it's no guarantee. And there isn't a new figure to use for the design - yet. But of all the characters to put on the cover and bring into the new continuity, why pick Road Rage? Not every comics character is going to get a new toy, but I would think that more likely for one like this, who has had very few toys and has never been an active character.

This is speculation, not a conclusion. But if we were betting on Tracks in WFC, I would put more money on that today than I would have yesterday.
Alex Milne just confirmed that no new toys were involved in the design of Road Rage for that cover. The design is his own creation, based only on MP Road Rage with some changes of his own making to account for the fact that her altmode is supposed to be Cybertronian rather than Earthen.

Same for Nautica's design. Milne based her on her both her preexisting IDW1 design and her Titans Return toy to make a unique design of his own making.

I'd say most collectors are going for the Reflector trifecta. The better question would be, who is happy with just ONE Reflector for their collection?

Me, because I wasn't alive during G1 so I have no attachment to his original alt mode and I think a camera is a pretty rubbish altmode that serves no real purpose. I'm actually happy they gave Reflector a Megatron/Soundwave/Shockwave-style alt mode change, while keeping the option of the original for the G1 fans.

I'm also among those sticking to one. I'm not sure I'll even be able to get all the figures I want from Siege, so I can't be buying duplicates (such is why I only have 1 Sixgun and 1 Cog)

Personally I quite like Soundwave's "cargo ship" mode. Looks very utilitarian to me. That and you don't really need a third party piece to do a tape deck mode, since there are other ways to go about it (check the Siege Soundwave Reprolabels page for that).

Wow...Cog and Sixgun were useless. We still haven't seen Chromia or Soundwave used at all in these shorts. I hope they'll be used soon. I know Megatron was the "Final Boss" this time, but I hope that doesn't mean the end of this series. It's been fun so far.

My thoughts exactly. Even when Hound did go to use their parts, he didn't pick up anywhere near all of them, and he would've been better off if he at least picked up both of Sixgun's legs, since they'd be the strongest out of the pile.

That or maybe he could've used the Sixgun Hulk hand and fired it at Megatron like a rocket punch.

If we look at the 'story' as a Transformers videogame then it become clear this was a team which had no damn clue how to properly make use of their team setup, were unprepared and got utterly wrecked by the boss.

Thanks to Hasbro.com we have some new videos showing the transformations of each of the next wave of Transformers War for Cybertron: Seige figures. These versions will hopefully be representative of the final product, and given the debate over Red Alert's colors and detailing this might answer some of those questions. These provide clearer looks at Red Alerts rifle/axe functionality and Springer's weapons and how his sword works. Do any of the videos cement your need for these or do they change your opinion for the negative? Is your Trypticon technically complete without Brunt? Take a view and share your thoughts with the Seibertron crew.
