That is exactly what changed him from a pass to a "take my money now!" for me once I saw him in hand. The light hit him just right and my willpower didn't stand a chance.

It's haunting. I don't think I have ever seen this intensity on light piping before. It's even better when there isn't that much light around because he really brings it out.

Yeah Shockwave and Soundwave both have amazing light piping that positively glows even when there isn't much ambient light. It's beautiful.

Just wondering for anyone who has him and wants to share--

Siege Springer... Yay or nay?

The closest I've ever come to having this character was back when a version was released by FansToys. And at the time I couldn't justify the price. I really liked him as a character, and now that I have SS86 Hot Rod on preorder, I'm not opposed to getting Springer, if he's worth it.
It may take some convincing because I'm already not a fan of the worn/battle damage paint apps, even though they're relatively subtle.

Any insight is appreciated!!

edit:
Somehow forgot... Also asking basically the same about Siege Sideswipe... He's one of my favorite characters, but was hoping for a slightly different version of him from either the ER or Netflix line than what we actually got... Since that didn't happen, I'm back to considering the first version.

I'm happy with my Springer but I hunted the Ross stores in my area until I found him. Sideswipe I bought full price, then bought the Amazon pack with G2 Sideswipe, then bought the Netflix Sideswipe. Along with Tigertracks and both Siege and Netflix Red Alert you could say I like the mold. The Netflix figures seem to have tighter joints.

He's a good toy and good representation of the character. His transformation between modes can be a delicate ordeal as the tabs and joints can be really tight and hard to get in the proper positions at first. Watching videos is generally a good idea with him, especially from reviewers who point stuff out.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

- Greenlight, Lancer and PotP Elita-1 (plus repro Victorion hands and feet?)

For me, the only downside of SIEGE Springer is his lack of a transforming sword. Everything else I'm happy with, including most of the compromises re: cartoon accuracy (angled chest instead of the erroneously rounded one, paldrons not being tilted, exposed front wheels in robot and helicopter mode, no slope on the back of paldrons) because there are good mechanical reasons for them, esp. on a retail toy - and I like them better than the compromises made by the 3P versions.

Rumor has it there's going to be a "clean" version released in Studio Series, but Idk if that's gonna prove true.

I personally didn't have a hard time figuring out his transformation. The best way I can explain it is, I knew what his altmodes were supposed to look like - and with that in mind, I was able to visualize how to get the pieces from their robot mode position to where they went in the vehicle modes.

Overall I'm pleased with Springer. I was never a fan of the character (I was ecstatic when Megatron executed him in Regeneration 1, top 3 TF kill ever) but the toy did him justice for the most part. I bought him to go on my movie shelf to complete the movie cast. For me, his transformation was tedious and annoying, and I have done it only once. When I complete my display case and rearrange my collection, I might transform him again.

Tl;dr he's a low-profile positive addition to my collection.

Yay. I think he's as good as we can get for that budget, though I will admit that the transformation is far from intuitive.

The Sideswipe mold IMO is 1 of the best in Siege, on par if not better than the Datsun mold. I love my Sideswipe, the shade of red is perfect and the vehicle mode is just smooth and flawless. I also own Red Alert, and I feel the same way about him. I didn't get any other versions of the mold, but I considered getting Tigertrack and just calling him Sunstreaker. I ended up getting the ER Streaker. I absolutely recommend Siege Sideswipe. The 1st 5-star figure of the WFC line.

My main issue with Sideswipe is that I can't get the car mode to line up properly and I don't think it can. You can see how the lines are supposed to connect on the sides but it doesn't seem physically possible.

Mine lines up close to perfectly (door vents in shoulders don't quite line up with mid-body panels, but both sides of the back are lined up smoothly), but it takes some finessing.

I think the root of the problem is the pin sockets not always being at quiiite the right spot to let everything line up Minute Rice-perfect.

Mine is perfect and easy to transform. Everything line up perfectly. Either you're doing a step wrong, or you indeed have a faulty toy.

I have to echo the popular sentiments about Siege Sideswipe. I held off until Red Alert came out, and as soon as I had him, I knew that was a mold I needed to acquire several times over. I have all versions but the new Netflix Red Alert, and none of them have issues converting to alt-mode. I'm a little bummed that Tigertrack's torso doesn't stay together as securely as the others, but the floppiness can be somewhat mitigated by the shoulder cannon.

The only other defect any of them suffer is a Sideswipe I found with Red Alert's head (in Sideswipe's colours). Kept it 'cause I like the aesthetic, even if it isn't correct.
