Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege Discussion Thread

The only thing I can suggest to make the height difference smaller is CW Prime should have his legs spread a little more so that he's standing flat-footed, thus making him shorter by a hair.
At first I was going to pass on this Prime due to the horrendous truck mode, but the robot mode is decent enough that I'm on the fence. I guess having him in hand will help decide. Of course, Megatron is a buy.

People should probably accept now before they're disappointed further that Siege is a new launching point for the line and isn't meant to go with the figures we've gotten in the past. Scale is important and what they potentially lose in size they make up for with complexity. If you're angry because you think Optimus is short for being the same size as most of his other Voyagers then I can only imagine how you'll react when you realize Leader Ultra Magnus is only a little taller than him (about the same size as CW Voyager Optimus Prime).

Everything we knew about scale and size classes is gone, it's a whole new game now.

My current collection began mostly with Titans Return, with some Combiner Wars and the odd T30 toy. Which mean for the most part everything fits together nicely with some decent scale and some shared aesthetics.

Ever since the bulk of Legends class became only small characters the closest thing they had to scale was mainly the G1 toy line with a few exceptions and Leader class mostly being its own scale throughout Prime Wars (Ultra Magnus being the only real outlier, a few others can work both ways). More than anything, until now scale wasn't a major consideration, they just did whatever worked at the time (like all Triplechangers being Voyagers even if it made them all giants).

Likewise. I've only been seriously collecting since Combiner Wars (though I've gotten together the odd T30 and previous generations figure as well) and I would argue that most of the figures from CW onward (save some of the leader classes like POTP Optimus or CW Megatron who are too large) scale pretty welll together.

In case anyone else is on the fence, I just completed the initial galleries for both Optimus Prime and Megatron. Hopefully I'll have them up late tonight or some time tomorrow.

Granted I would argue the triple changers should be that large or even bigger in the cases of Astrotrain and Broadside (Who I think should both be leader class)

I think it was wise to make them both be as big as the faction leaders

I've been collecting a bit longer, but I've had no real complaints with what characters got what size class as there's always some form of justification for it. What does irk me a bit is that Starscream got promoted to Voyager Class, but that's me being used to most jets being in Deluxe Class.
Triple Changers being Voyager Class is perfect: Deluxe Astrotrain and Octane were pretty good but did have problems due to their small size, but Springer proved Voyager was the way to go... even if Blitzwing proved size was part of the problem.

Well, crap.
Those in-hand shots might have sold me on actually getting Prime. While I wish he was a bit closer to the white Magnus Prime robot, the transformation, the alt mode, the weathering, finally having a Prime with a frikkin metal-as-hell AXE, and the ability to combine with Weaponizers is pretty awesome.
I will cut it off at those 2 voyagers for sure. No Wave, no Starscream, no Springer.
...ok maybe Thundercracker cause he's my absolute favorite seeker.
I'm actually hoping we only get the 2 leaders. I'm wondering who they would make the 3rd, and if it would be a repaint or new mold. PotP had 3 unique molds for the 3 leaders, but 1 mainline repaint, and 2 exclusive repaints. Makes me wonder which way they will go Leader wise.

I would love to see an exclusive "Shackwave" or "Radioshock". That would be awesome. But only if they can get away with using one of those names. Diaclone Magnus (or Delta Magnus) would be great also.

I'm still hoping for a new mold Star Saber, or a Magnus retool into Thunderclash. But that Magnus seriously is awesome, love the whole thing really. His extreme differences from CW Magnus justify owning both for me

Re: Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege Discussion Thread
Jetfire seems like an obvious candidate for Siege Leader class. I just picked up the T30 one, though, so I'm fine if that doesn't happen.
It would drive people nuts, and it's probably not likely, but I'd like a Leader Optimus with a trailer that converts to armaments, though hopefully more '84 (Roller, repair drone) than '88 (PMOP).

Over the last few of years I've really come to appreciate kibble and I've always liked to see the alt-mode parts in robot mode.ScottyP wrote:Skritz wrote:It's funny you say that because this same design standard is what, years ago, had people whining about overly large and intrusive 'kibble'.
Kibble is the spice of life when it comes to Transformers. Too much can be a bad thing, but without enough you just have...And I'm not here for that. A sleek robot with a piece of a car sticking off is part of the charm. Without it, it doesn't look like they're trying to be "robots in disguise"!Seibertron wrote:a standard humanoid robot form.

Why another Optimus Prime in the same line at a different class when we're going for scale accuracy? And please don't let this be another Shockwave situation where it's just a voyager figure with added nonsense. The main reason it works for Shockwave is that it justifies the 'totally-not-a-gun-submarine' mode. That, and it is just so fantastically weird.
There's no reason to do this. We already have a perfect Prime in this line and other great Primes in others, we don't need to double dip in the first part of the trilogy.
But it is Optimus Prime so, I guess it should be expected.
