I am pretty sure we'll get Star Saber. It'd be foolish of HASBRO to not give us a new Generations version of him And I'd be down for a retool in Thunderwing.

Would you be down for Star Saber if they modeled him on his IDW version? ;)
Even MORE :x :x :x

Star Saber being a Leader Class toy in a Generations line isn't just fans clamoring for a fan-favorite but simply pattern recognition. The Leader price point is for two things which sometimes overlap: characters which are meant to be big and chunky (or who require the price point, like Six Shot) and for faction leaders/major figures. As it is, Star Saber was at one point an Autobot Leader even if it was just in an anime that never made it to the US.

No the reason why Star Saber seem so inevitable is the precedent laid out by Overlord: a Leader class almost 1:1 remake of a big, pricy Japanese-exclusive figure and character released as a mass retail Leader-class figure. Outside of some places in Europe, Overlord had never been released in the west at mass retail and yet Titans Return saw him get the biggest price point at mass retail because, let's face it, Overlord would not have worked at anything smaller.

This is why I think Star Saber has to happen some day: there aren't a lot of Autobots left for the Leader price point unless Hasbro decide to fill every single line with Optimus/Magnus/Rodimus/Jetfire every single time. Right now we are down to only two big (big as in size and chunk) :BOT: Leaders: Star Saber and Thunderclash, both of which could easily be pretooled into a more marketable character to save cost.

I mean there's Dai Atlas, but it seem like Takara has this one covered this time around with Legends EX.

It's funny how Ultra Magnus used to always start off as Optimus, and now we have Ultra Magni becoming Primes. I still hope someone at Hasbro goes crazy and says "You know what, let's finally give Epsilon Delta what he has always wanted and make an Ultra Magnus out of the Galaxy Force/Cybertron Optimus Prime."
Who says Cybertron Optimus can't hold his matrix with two hands?

They'll retool an Optimus into an Ultra Magnus and then retool that Magnus back into Optimus only to later use parts of that Optimus to make another Magnus which... :HEADHURTS:

One could easily buy both Siege leaders. Them mix-n-match the parts for some creative super modes.

I can't say I'm certain, but I'm pretty sure this Prime still has the panels from Magnus' trailers on his legs, so we might be able to do some fan-moding for a different truck mode.

They don't look to be the exact same panels, given how Magnus's folded up for the transformation, but I agree that those side panels on his super mode boots definitely still appear to be on hinges for a yet unknown reason.

This review has absolutely solidified for me that I am no longer interested in paying full price for Magnus and am instead much more interested in waiting for the superior version of the mold, Prime looks amazing and I cannot wait. I might still snag Magnus if I find him on sale somewhere/discounted on the new Hasbro store, but I'm not nearly as invested as I am in Prime. Plus I'm trying to limit myself to only buying myself 2 Leader figures a year unless they're not full price, and I already grabbed an SS Blackout last month.

Also, of the PotP vote characters we have yet to get, I would be the most excited for Deathsaurus, followed by Thunderwing. I still want an updated Energon Wing Saber more than I do a Star Saber, IDW-inspired or otherwise. Thunderclash would also be amazing though.

I just figured out a mod for Voyager Optimus Prime: there's a slight problem with his front wheels. There's a little edge that causes them to always be at an angle in truck mode.

I recently finally got Voyager Prime, and I'm loving him. While I don't really have a problem with the truck mode like I know some people do, I did notice that the parts of the truck face/cab that people don't like (grill, roof lights, translucent bits, weird turbine bits on the bottoms of the sides, etc.) are all formed either by Prime's backpack or extraneous parts on the forearms, all of which are fairly easily and safely removable, which leads me to question - why hasn't anyone designed an upgrade kit which replaces those bits with parts that make the truck mode more resemble a classic Optimus Earth semi?

Well for one thing the mushroom peg keeping the backpack on is pinned in making it permanently blocked; in general though, now that a lot of people are getting him in hand, I think the enjoyment they're getting out of him is kinda cooling down their dislike of the vehicle mode

So in related news, my area got a restock of ss voyagers, which means I finally got a non-squiffed prime :KREMZEEK:

He's so good now that his roof lets me transform him into a vehicle; just so awesome on every level, I really kinda need a nemesis version of this mold with trans-red plastic all over his truck mode face, it would be so sick

Actually, not quite - it doesn't have complete clearance, so it is ever so slightly dodgy, but you definitely can get the mushroom peg past the hinge keeping the peg slot on to remove it without damaging anything. The hinge on the torso has to be angled up as far as possible, and you have to pull the mushroom peg up and out to do it.

EDIT: images for reference, showing it's possible to do it without damaging any part involved:

EDIT 2: higher-angle shot, further showing no damage to the peg slot:

Fair enough, I did know that it was sorta close at that angle, but I didn't want to make it seem like that was a sure-fire option

Ah, that's understandable.

Also, here's some shots of him with both the backpack and the forearm kibble removed (Do note that removing the forearm kibble does seem to be stressing the plastic a little bit; for the window panels on the outsides of the forearms it's stressing it on the actual panel, which can seemingly be avoided by pulling it straight out of its hinge instead of one side then the other, but for the turbine thingys on the undersides of the forearms it's stressing the plastic inside the actual forearm, and I'm not sure how to avoid it, perhaps by making sure you pull the mushroom peg for it out first on the side of the hole that is bordered by part of the inner half piece of the forearm, which doesn't actually form any part of the peg slot and just closes up the hole, so that you're just pushing a separate piece out of the way slightly and not really stressing anything, or if you really wanna be careful, take a screwdriver to the forearm, open it up, and pull the mushroom peg for the turbine thingy out horizontally just to make sure it doesn't stress anything):

Not quite, he was actually redecoed from an Optimus Prime (which I have):

Image

He can be found in the Armada Optimus Prime toy list, not the G1 one like Ultra Magnus was.

However the fact remains the Cybertron design was still favored more among the non-G1 series next to Beast Wars. My guess is that unlike the Armada and Energon ones he's a single unit and not that different between Standard and Super Modes.
