My thoughts on the sets:

Skywarp may just make me go back and pick up Screamer and TC. I dont wanna, but he looks okay and I luke his minions. Fair price or not though, thats a decent chunk of chsnge.

I really like Slamdance, and I think this is a really creatice use of the mold. I dont like the random red panels on. G G2 Sideswipe but its a nice looking car. If I had to choose, I would pick that set over Skywarp.

It's not, thats just something fans tell themselves. But if you look at the generations line's more recent releases, the seekers were mostly mainline, ex: Generations Deluxe mold, Generations legend mold, generations leader mold. All 3 seekers for all those classes available at major retailers.

I know I'm splitting a hair here, but as far as the Deluxe Classics Seekers, Skywarp was an exclusive to Target. Yes, a major retailer, but he was in the Target 2-pack along with the Ultra Magnus repaint of the Prime mold. Now I'm not sure if he was rereleased later in Generations, because I can't remember, because I found that 2-pack at retail, and never needed to look back.

But you are correct. It is something we tell ourselves. Especially for me when 2 of my 5 most favorite TF characters are Skywarp and Bluestreak. Two characters who more often than not get relegated to "always a bridesmaid, never a bride". If they are recognized at all.

For the longest time though, TC was too. I think what really drove the whole Skywarp is an exclusove point was everyone remembers seeing him as a Walmart Exlcusive for the G1 style Movie Seeker mold and Masterpiece. Althought technically every Masterpiece is an exclusive and most of the G1 style movie seekers were too.

Ahem.. :-B

I was very specific when referring to the generations line and recent releases. The recent generations deluxe seeker mold is the following:

Image
Transformers Generations Skywarp Gallery

So that means that for leaders, deluxes and legends, all 3 available at major retailers.

Also, as far as Bluestreak, the masterpiece line is treating him like the loveliest bride of all time. Not only is there a Takara release, a hasbro release a blue bluestreak release but we are also getting a really gorgeous show accurate bluestreak that will be available in both markets :D

yeah exactly, all MPs are exclusives, so its a moot point. And thundercracker is indeed the exclusive seeker as of late.

Here are the latest TC exclusives (one still has not reached the US):

I think this has sealed my decision regarding the seekers. I think I'm just going to get Starscream rather go for the full trio. If I could get Skywarp alone then I might go for it but I can't justify it. Considering I'm still trying to reduce the number of repaints I buy I'll definetely be passing on Slamdance and Sideswipe. Still definetely getting Greenlight unless she's also a leader class price point, but I highly doubt it.

If I was in a different place in my life Siege would have me so excited! But right now I'm mostly happy about Greenlight. Out of everyone here she has me the most happy because I just don't have any version of her at all. She's one step towards my goal of getting all the Seasons 1 - the movie characters. Bring on Lancer.

The G2 Sideswipe/Slamdance set looks pretty good as does Skywarp. Though I really wish my favourite Seeker was an exclusive, why not make one of the other exclusive Seekers like Sunstorm the exclusive?

I know the G2 Sideswipe has its fans but i think it is a wasted slot when Deep Cover, Clampdown or even Tigertrack could've been used instead.

Especially now that they're embracing Soundblaster as a separate entity from Soundwave.

Have I missed something? When did this news that sound blaster is separate to Soundwave come out? I know we're getting the toy as part of the 35th subset but as far as I'm aware that was it.

Until they start matching the panel colours I'm unlikely to pick up any of the car bots tho I think the g2 swipe and slamdance will be an eventual buy. I might have to paint the parts or leave in bot mode like with stepper. No rush tho as I think I'm only just finishing potp off after picking up a Throne Monkey and still the illusives remaining on the previous lines.

G2 Sideswipe instead is quite pointless, unless it is meant to represent a new character sharing its deco (something that I previously read referred to Soundblaster).

I do think it's a good idea though give him Enemy, Stage-Dive, Glit, Garboil & Howlback

That Sideswipe looks lovely, even if it doesn't have the G2 Autobot symbol. For those who have the Sideswipe and Skytread moulds, how are they? Because I might buy the Firestorm pack when it's out.

Sideswipe's a little gem. He's dismissed because of previous iterations and he's a bit simplistic, but tbh, the simple and intuitive transformation make him one of my recent faves. The weapons could be better and am tempted to buy a 3p upgrade set for him, and the white plastic seems a bit yellowish.

Re sky tread - he's a great figure.. fun too but suffers from 2 flaws when transforming his tank mode - there's not enough slack for the gun to sit properly and it can be a bit tough to close the top part properly. Otherwise a great addition, I had battle trap and this one is better because he's much less fiddly to transform as he doesn't have the 2 separate robot modes.

in short - both figures thoroughly recommended.
My personal prime collection so far in descending order of how great i reckon the toy is -
FE Prime, Silas Breakdown (Powerizer), Dreadwing (Powerizer), FE Bulkhead, Voyager StarScream (Powerizer), Ratchet, Soundwave, Arcee, Voyager Megatron (Powerizer), Wheeljack, Thundertron (Powerizer), Ultra Magnus (Powerizer), Knockout, Cliffjumper, Bumblebee,Airachnid

But what was mentre83 talking about when claiming Soundblaster was separate from Soundwave? The only instances when that happened were those under extenuating circumstances. The most prominent version of Soundblaster is Soundwave himself in a new body.

He is the wrong way around, but the colors on the individual vehicles do match the G1 versions, which is more important. New head too, nice. Seeing "Raindance" and "Grand Slam" on the box would truly be icing on the cake.

G2 Sideswipe is a good choice IMHO, considering the previous version was a BotCon exclusive, a Customising Class figure to boot so very hard to find:

Image

The Battle Masters, I have no idea who they could be, they could be new, they could have names plucked the Double Targetmasters or Action Master partners, who knows? I can only ID the molds used: Pteraxadon, Aimless and Firedrive for Skywarp, and Blowpipe for Sideswipe and Slamdance. I'm relieved, I can get regular Aimless now

This is like those promos where there's one item you want but you have to buy all the crap that comes with it to get it. Leader class price points just because they come with little targetmasters? What if I don't want to pay that high of a price. I like it better when they keep the meat and potatoes separate. I want Skywarp but not at leader price. Ugh.

I want Greenlight & Skywarp but begrudge paying top tier for toys that don't deserve the price point even shockwave was vastly over priced

Y'all are acting like this is something new when we've had this same kind of exclusive boxed set stuff before with the Titans Return boxed sets and all the BotCon boxed sets.

And, seriously, no one is forcing any of you to buy these. If you don't want them, don't buy them.

Or as others have suggested, sell the parts you don't want and get a little money back. There's always a demand on the secondary market for individual components of some sets. I really wanted to the exclusive Prime Masters that came with Punch & Blastoff, but not the figures themselves (I already had UW Blastoff, and I didn't want Punch), so thankfully i foudn them right away at a reasonable price, but now, you'd be hard pressed to find them.

If anyone gets Skywarp, and doesn't want the 3 BattleMasters, let me know, I'll pay fair compensation for them.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

I think the takeaway here is that Hasbro is planning some exclusive sets for niche markets. Even if one of these toys doesn't hit your OWN personal niche, we should ALL be rejoicing that they are doing this. We don't have Botcon to fill that gap, so I'm so glad they found an avenue for some oddities.

As for me — someone who witnessed the downfall of the franchise with the end of G1 toys and comics — the resurrection of Transformers in G2 was a joyous occasion. The comic had fantastic art by Geoff Senior and writing by Furman. The vintage molds returned to the shelf with a fresh twist.

SO I'll be first in line to get this G2 Sideswipe. It evokes great memories and stands for the franchise's return to greatness.

Primus I'm blind: I just now realised the Battle Masters are color-matched with their owner. That means the one in the Firestormer pack is matched to G2 Sideswipe. Would that mean he's enhanced with forestonite as well? 8-}

Oh, I know. That's what makes me so happy about it.

Where I am now, I have to be pickier about my purchases. And, I have to admit, buying multiples of the same character isn't always great, even if the new mould is an improvement. Like, Jetfire looks awesome, but I'm happy with 30 Jetfire and I was decently happy with Classics, I don't actually *need* a new version for my collection to be considered complete.

But Greenlight fills a few niches. Female TF, Season 1 -> the movie character, character who never got a toy ... it's all good. It'd be nice if there were more female TF moulds, but that's okay. I'm really glad I get to flesh out my cast.
