You have don a lot more work. Looking good. Is that a peg between the legs for holding the transformation?

Just for 'coolness' factor, I'd say make the treads rubber. It's not likely you'll be able to make 'em actually WORK like treads, but who knows...

Go the cheep way and just sculpt them with little tiny wheels added in for movement.

I say do it the hard way. Make a perfect link for tread then reproduce it to make the whole. You could even get some leggo links and add putty onto them. I don't think rubber will improve the overall look, most large vehicles with treads have metal ones anyway. They don't need to move to look good. TFMaster has a point about the wheels, most tfs use that design. I think the only exception was rampage from beastwars.

pepie wrote:proportions look great VP! How are the legs holding up with such a construction, is it strong enough?

What TFM means is that the complete torso flips 90 degrees.
I cant point it out in words, a pic says more I guess.
It's a hard part to construct, it has to hold a lot of weight in both modes.. especially in altmode.

Oh thats what is meant. Yes, I know there is that piece that connects the waist to the upper body. I haven't added that yet. In my WIP pics, that piece is taped on to the upper body, therefore not angled out. I will connect the waist to the upper body via that connecting piece (whatever you want to call it) and have it able to rotate so it can angle out. I will also connect the hip piece to the waist using a rotating piece to allow hip/waist rotation. And the legs will hold up fine I think. I used pretty thick styrene. But like the shoulders, the lower legs has to be pretty much hallow as well because it houses the thigh just like the shoulders house the forearms.

TFMaster wrote:Oh boy you guys are going to have fun with those back wings!

No kidding. That will be the hardest part. I've figured out the transformation of that part but will still be difficult to fabricate. I've done the upper arm. Will start on the forearm.

OdeeanRDeathshead wrote:Is that a peg between the legs for holding the transformation? TFMaster has a point about the wheels, most tfs use that design.

Yes, the pegs are there to allow the lower legs to fold onto the thighs. Yes, I've actually thought about making "training wheels" to add under each tread to allow it to roll. Not sure if I'll do that but we'll see.

I've got quite a bit done. But been lazy to take pics. Also, I want to mold cast the parts before posting pics. I've only got once side done. I just need to cast it so I can make duplicates for the other side. Hopefully will have more pics in a couple of days.

That looks stunning VP! You have made some real progress.. excellent detailing dude.
The shoulders look really buffed up, I love it.
Those threads on the legs are perfect, thumbs up!
I see you have made progress in the midsection too, does it function allready?

That cylinder part going through the abdomen isn?t functional on its own. I?ve created a smaller circular piece (not pictured) to attach to each side of the cylinder. It will be attached by a screw so that it can rotate therefore allowing the whole upper body to be angled.

Speaking of gun. Anyone have a pic of his gun? There is a pic of it in the first issue of volume 1 of TWW comics but it looks like a pistol to me the way its drawn. Big Bad Grim doesn?t carry a pistol does he?

I?ll either use a modified E. Grim head (the combined one, not the regular since the regular is too small) or a modified Alt Grim head (would need to carve in the ?teeth? on the sides of the mouth plate).

It wasn't really a gun but a tool a couple of them used. It's a form of grapple line if I'm correct in what your talking about.

Yes, it was used as a grapple line but I figured it doubled as a gun too since I've never seen a gun drawn for him.

Do a little of both Modify the E. Grim combined head and the alt. Grim head together. For example; just put the E.grim face in the alt. Grim helmet. (if it would work that way?)

Actually, some of the parts you see in the pics were casted in resin. I made one side out of styrene and just casted it to make duplicates. My original plan was to actually make the whole thing castable too but that's becoming time consuming. I'm still planning on making it mold castable though which is why the parts are taped loosely together and not yet glued together.

That weapon was based on the missile launcher that "Ole Grimmy"
came with back in G1.

The leg tank treads are vrey well made ;)

The chest details are very good too, I just think that the shoulders are a bit too wide, even for Badass Grimlock
my opinion can still change when you finished his arms though, so keep on the work!

hmm...shouldes too wide? Anyone else think that way too? If so, that's an easy fix.

Yeah, he looks a bit broad compared to the comic art.

Narrowed each shoulders by about 4 cm. Can't really see it since its not attached to the rest of the body though. Also went ahead and added the treads. Thanks for the comments/crits/suggestions. Keep 'em coming.

Little update for now. I have most of the upper body done too, including the forearms, but I ran out of molding and casting material. Hopefully will have the order by a week or so and can update the rest. Don't mind the different shade of gray. I dyed the pieces gray so it'll be more visible in the pics. Added more gray to some pieces than others, lol. But they will all be spray painted later anyways.
