Ultra Magnus = Optimus Prime? WTH?

I think there's some confusion coming out of the Hasbro panel information here. As far as I know what was said was that there would be a new Magnus next year that wasn't a Prime repaint. I don't believe that I've seen any confirmation as to which line this is to be. If the info above about Magnus being in Animated pans out that pretty much spells the end of anyone's hopes for a Universe Magnus. Given that we've already had Classics Magnus I suppose doing him in Animated makes more sense than another version in what is essentially a continuation of the same line.

Well admittedly my where I first saw this was on wikipedia wikipedia, but some google-ing turned up this thread as well.REMINATOR wrote:Ragnorok64 wrote:I saw that for Classics 2.0 there will be a new Ultra Magnus sculpt. If that is true what do you all think think the chances of his being a two part figure with separable trailer armor is? He'd probably be expensive if he was, but dang he'd be sweet.

Whoo, you said "I saw that for Classics 2.0 there will be a new Ultra Magnus sculpt", where did you saw this? I know they mentioned about other bots for classic 2.0 but nothing on UMagnus. Did I miss something? I know he'll get a new mold for TF Animation but another mold would even more sweeter.
Anyway, I would always prefer a two part figure since it gives more playing value.

We'll likely be getting the Animated version. Unless, there'
s a UMagnus in TF2. Then we're talking about something else, ehhee

Universe Magnus is already exist too - RID repaint.

Universe Magnus is a Repaint of Armada Deluxe Prime, not R.I.D.
We'll probably get an Animated Magnus in his own mold. and won't see a Magnus for Universe, since we already have Classics Magnus.
I for one like the white repaints. Classics Magnus looks Really Cool. I'd love to see Cybertron Prime repainted into Ultra Magnus. I'd also love to see R.I.D. Prime Repainted into Magnus, he'd even work out well with the Armor as the Um armor, in blue and red. While the inner robot is White.
I feel a Digibash coming on.

There were two Primes and two Megatrons in Classics 1.0, why then can't there be two UM's especially if Hasbro are actually going to make an effort to make him a new non-Prime mold?

No...RiD Ultra Magnus had a whole other non-repainted toy.

I hope the new non-Prime mold will be at least LARGER than Voyager Prime.

Because Hasbro already said, that if a character has a figure in one line, there won't be one in the other line.
Of course they can change their minds, but for now, that's what we have.

I like your signature...TF Animated Prime into UMagnus, ehhee

lol, it's okay to repaint Prime into Magnus occasionally, but not at the level that you are seeking, heheeh. You're going to repaint every Prime that ever exist

I've always loved Magnus. I chose to get him with Skywarp instead of just buying the Classics Prime. Now I haven't read that more recent story where it shows Magnus in the Prime mold with them referring to each other as brothers, but I did read about it. Didn't it mention something about Magnus using the armor to seperate himself from Prime and make him a more distinct entity? Could someone who read that series help enlighten me? It's hard to find those issues 'round here.

Not all of them. I wouldn't repaint Energon Prime
Any way I know what you mean. So I'm happy Magnus is getting his own Mould. Ohh and my siggy, just a little digibash, to see what he'd look like.

It's something like Ultra Magnus was engaged in a battle with Skywarp over the Autobot city.
Due to sustained heavy damage, Magnus eventually discarded his blue armor, and assume the white Prime look.

In War and Peace his armor was badly damaged by Shockwave, thus he had to discard it.

Not to mention the different incarnations of every movie character in the movie line.
When Hasbro says they're not going to do something, take it with a grain of salt.

I don't know, maybe it was the old school in me, or maybe it's just my preferences, but back in the day I always thought of Magnus as being his own bot, not a repainted Prime underneath, even if the toy was sold that way, to me he was just always the super armored version..
It just doesn't make sense, that under the armor he's just like prime, because in that sense, what makes Prime stronger, because he has the Matrix?
Why then wouldn't he have the Armor as well, as leader of the Autobots he should be the strongest as well as the Wisest??
Ultra Magnus was always a repaint from the Get go, he was repainted from the diaclone colors to the red, white, and Blue..then he was repainted over and over again from Optimus Prime Molds with the WWI, Armada, classics, revoltech, masterpiece, except overload...
Though I think Overload was always called Ultra Magnus in the Japanece Galaxy series...??? I could be wrong about that..I though Overload was a sweet idea for Ultra Magnus.. I really like that he's similar to the G-1 in terms of transformation and all..
Still I was very happy to get my hands on the RID Magnus, which to me was a brand new mold and hasn't been seen since the G-1 mold..non repaint....I loved him, even if he had long legs, but then again he's a freaking robot!! who says he has to have Human Proportions anyways, like prime having a mouth, or shound wave, or shockwave, ect...
I prefer Ultra Magnus with his Armor on, to me, he's as strong as Prime, and a very good 2nd in command.. the Masterpiece line up really needs him in his armor...

I seriously doubt we will see him in the Universe/classics 2.0 line up, which is okay by me.. let's hope he's a cool new model in the Animated series...
They could alawyas use the old Ultra Magnus Transtech design for the Animated show..
See:

that wouldn't be sooo bad.. I mean the Animated series is set in the future of earth anyways..

yeah that is a CGI model done by

but to me that is exactly how they should do the Masterpiece Ultra Magnus additional Armor..

For the record, that isn't 'the old Transtech design', either, it's fanart. Hence the names on it (looks like it's drawn by Littleiron and coloured by Hansime).
Not that it's not kickarse, but it's not an old official design.
