The 'name of that figure issue' has gone way too far. You can't use a perfectly legitimate word because some fools used it as an insult many years ago? Eliminate it from the language!
It's Orwellian. You can rile a troublemaker just by saying hello 'cause they'll always be looking for something to snap at. That word probably hasn't been used as an insult on any detectable scale for at least fifteen years yet the whining righteous will ensure that kids who never otherwise would have; WILL hear it and wonder what it means. Show me the parent who responds; 'Oh, that's what you should call Gimpy Jim who goes to your school' and I'll call Social Services myself. The result is: a dormant insult may come back and we aren't getting a figure I'd love to have.
