I'm surprised nobody's jumping all over what a crappy repaint Starscream is. For starters, it's almost a G2 whitish color instead of the typical grey for Starscream. It has ZERO paint apps except for the head and the wings. It's an extremely cheap repaint ... yet everyone seems to be oddly stating positive statements for it. Now, had this been marketed as a G2 Starscream, I would have been more positive about this figure.

First-time poster to this site, so hi. I love that Hound; he was one of my favorite G1 characters and figs, and this new version looks like it does justice to him.

Maybe we all have the Henkei one already. I dunno, it is a pretty simple repaint but it still looks more like G1 Starscream than the first Classics release. I'm passing simply because I've already got the Henkei. If I didn't, I'd probably go for the Universe one.

Only thing that is more "G1" about the new version is the revised paint apps on the wings, which are from the Henkei version. Other than that, the original classic version is a more darker grey like the G1 toy is.

Achem, Universe Starscream is a piss poor rendition of an otherwise celebrated mold. The complete lack of details, odd choice in primary coloring, and off color red make this toy stand out in ways that make it look like a KO from 10 feet away.

Placing this toy next to the Henkei version will make you feel things inside. If you are able to avoid the massive upheaval you feel brewing deep down in your gut, you might ponder why or even how such a simple toy can draw such a complex reaction.

I refuse to say that Henkei is a superior line to Classics/Universe, but this Universe 2.0 Starscream only keeps me from speaking to that very subject by means of the swell of bile I am attempting to keep down.

Hyperbole? Or just the fair and balanced side?

It's a G1 cartoon accurate repaint of the mold. That's why I'll be buying it. Hell, people are going nuts over the (IMO) slightly naff Henkei Cyclonus, so why not this?

That's why whenever I find him, I'm putting him in the back of my classics seekers and calling him a different name. Henkei SS is my Starscream of choice

I have been waiting for counterpunch to write of one of his amazing articles on the universe transformers classic editions so that we can really know which ones are worth buying and which ones suck ass.

Cheetor is Derek Jeter.

I saw Cyclonus (and Cheetor and Starscream) at Golden Age Collectables a few weeks ago. I passed on getting him, needing as much as my money as I can get my hands on for a trip I'm taking next weekend. I'm pretty sure he's not there anymore. And since A3AU is closed, my next best chance to get him will be if (not when) Wave Four shows up at Toys R Us or Wal-Mart.

Here's to hoping they turn up for you then, Darth Bombshell. The entire wave is worth picking up, IMO. Screamer's the only one I haven't bought yet, and I think I should get this one as well. Wasn't too keen on the idea of getting this repaint at first, but it makes total sense that they'd include Starscream in the 25th Anniversary run.

I know it doesn't help you now, but if you're ever in Richmond check out a store called Beans in Aberdeen mall. I got a Cyclonus there yesterday, but it was the last one. There's always a chance they could get more in the future! Crystal Mall next to Metrotown is worth checking out too, I haven't been there lately though.

I have to say I really dont feel the love with that Starscream repaint, its so very blindly white! Even an ink wash wouldve been nice, just to pick out all the panel lines and details. I got the original Classics version when it originally came out and with a couple of minor touch-ups he suits me just fine.

Im still divided on Cyclonus though, cant decide if I prefer The Classics 2.0/Universe version or Henkei. Its not a case of "which is superior" just a matter of preferance if anything..

Personally I quite like Cheetor.. even if he does have a huge back.

Because I can't stand it when the faces are unpainted. I'd rather have a blue faced Ironhide than an unpainted face. Actually, come to think of it, it was the blue faced Ironhide that made me want to try the silver sharpie in the first place. The painted faces also photograph much better than unpainted ones.

Agreed. The face is an key aspect to the overall look of the toy. An painted face can drastically change my impression of an figure, like for Cyclonus, just adding silver to the face makes him look way better. The face is one of the first things I look at on a Transformer.

I just got the Henkei Hound. It is 100 TIMES BETTER! It makes Universe Hound look like a cheap KO.

...Its times like this I hate have to choose.. lol, Ill probably pick up Hasbro's Cyclonus when he hits shelves over here, then at some point get the Henkei one online and call one of them "and his armada"
