I may be in the minority on this, but I'm glad that didn't make it to the prototype stage. Thats... not a very good design for old Sounders. But that's just my opinion.

I prefer the nostalgic design of ML Soundwave however... I really do need to get him.

they should just make him a cassette player like he used to be
so what if its out dated i would buy it over anything else they made him into
and why don't they do a classics reflector ?

Soundwave is in dire need of a permanent alt mode upgrade. We can't keep hanging on to a casette player forever. In a few generations very few people will even remember casettes at all. I very much like the pictures of Soundwave I have seen as a military communications vehicle and would love for that be the inspiration for his future.

Funny... I was just thinking the other day that with a new head and a paint job the upcoming Classics Ironhide could make a descent updated Soundwave. I'm not sure what came first, but that drawing looks a lot like the Ironhide pictures they've shown us.

This concept art of Don Figueroa is great as always. I just hope that Hasbro will release Soundwave even he will not look like in this concept art. :grin:

Eeew. Glad that didn't happen. I still prefer my idea of him being an AWACS plane with the cassettes becoming UAVs. I don't think AWACS planes normally launch UAVs, but let's allow a little artistic license.

Well, he's lacking a radar dish that turns into Buzzsaw/Laserbeak, but other than that, me likes. B-)

B'sides, the tape deck alt mode is just too damn old to be justifiable anymore, IMO (which could also be said for the Dinobots, but fortunately robot dinosaurs still have infinitely more coolness these days than tape decks do) .

You hit the nail right on the head. Soundwave needs a new, long term alt mode. Casettes are really, really old school and are all but forgotten and the boom box designs just aren't relavent any more.

I grew up with and love the old design but we've got to get past the whole retro thing. Let's save the casette player for the Encore releases and get on with it.

We've seen him as a jet which was just OK to me, and now as a Scion-esque car in TFA which IMO is pretty nice. If people aren't feeling these alt. modes, what's next? Maybe the Movie will get it right and give us a proper alt mode for his future uses.

OK they did have to clean it up for me, but I started it, well the pic got erased cos it was now fanart, I then found it on unicron.com
