Shockwave was commanded BY megatron himself to stay upon cybertron and protect it(Specifically leave it the way he left it).
Your theory could be correct if shockwave realizes that megatron's signal disappeared and he went in search of his commander and fell into russia instead,
OR My theory:Megatron returns to Cybertron after the events of RotF and instructs shockwave to help construct a new army which they will reign upon humanity this summer on july 1st.

One question is how long it takes for a message to get from Earth to Cybertron/nearest hideout after Cybertron, and how long it takes a group to get back to Earth from there.
Shockwave may have left WAY before TF1 even began,and the message/beckon-call Optimus sent to all Autobots at the end of TF1 may still be inside our solar system.

This is a good idea but...
1) We know in G1 shockwave was left in charge of cybertron. This is Bayverse so that may not have happened. Or was that said in one of the movies? (Pretty sure it wasn't)

2)Based of Megatron's toy for DOTM I don't think Megz went anywhere. His toy is a tanker truck and in his robot form he has a tarp on his right side that was so badly damaged in ROTF. So I think Megatron hasn't been repaired yet and took an Earthly form to hide until this army comes. (Also I read somewhere a while back that Megatron is hiding in the Jungle...Have no idea where I read that and don't really believe it either.)

I'm not sure if it was named in the movie, but in the novelization the ship on Saturn's moon where the Fallen stayed prior to coming to Earth was called the Nemesis.

The moon is about 6785 miles around. And the Ark is on the dark half. If Megatron wasn't looking for the Ark, he wasn't going to find it.

I think that jungle bit came from the bio of him shown a while back. Not sure if it was the cyberverse or the voyager toy that claimed that one though.

this does sound fairly true, but in another post, someone says that during an early screening of Sucker Punch, he saw the DOTM trailer. in the trailer, he said he saw Shockwave on a ship coming from cybertron to earth. again both of these sound true, but i guess we'll find out when DOTM comes out

If shockwave was on a ship, he could have been the reason the Ark Crashed on the moon and I believe even Sentinals Bio for his toy says he was offline or presumed offline.

Yes this comic confirms what we thought about shockwave and the russians had captured him. But Megatron's new tanker form has not been introduced yet.

It states in the comic that Mikaela broke up with Sam on page 16. Also while I was looking for this page in the comic I noticed Megatron already has the tanker truck mode. If you look on page 12 where he has just freed Shockwave you notice some chains and tires on Megatron.

Well, it's logical. When someone who claims that works on DOTM tells you that Shockwave is somehow connected with the year 1908, and the only major thing during that year is the Tunguska incident - it's not that hard to guess.
Too bad that this is in the comics and not in the movie. At least I hope they'll give us some kind of flashback in the movie.

And I would imagine they will tie it in to the movie so that the general public knows where the "big purple guy" came from.
