Quite simply, there is no other way! At least not with the way they are now.

They were pretty tough to pop out so I didn't even bother for these pictures.

You could cut the entire thumb off at the palm, and re-attach it by a pivot point so that it can be rotated from one side of the hand to the other, thus allowing a right hand to become a left hand and vice-versa.

Is that E Ironhide's head?

Yep, it's a modified E Ironhide head. The face on both sides have been modified to look more lik the original Punch/Counterpunch toy, and the helmet has been left intact. It tilts back and for enough to cover the opposite face's eyes, just like on the original toy!

Seriously speaking though, I was looking at my punch/counterpunch today and I have to say that it really is an incredible likeness! I am very impressed(should shorten that to IMVI since I seem to be typing it quite a lot lately).
