animated toy hopes and fears
as a toy line runs through time it of course can change. what are your hopes and fears for the animated line? this kind of ties in with the animation itself.
My hopes: a continuation of the appearence of solid recognisable new mould characters from the animation as toys and no repaints of characters NOT in the animation like the movie line.
The continuation of this line for the next couple of years atleast, looks like we have about 25 toys already in the wings but hopefully more to come.
return of old characters and some new ones.
My fears:opposite of the above, ie repaints of non animation characters. The development of new toys that are over detailed (ie more is not better) which inevitably afflicts modern design series of almost anything!

Re: animated toy hopes and fears
actually i should have clarified, repaints of those toys that are core repaint figures, like SW and TC doesnt worry me to much as long as the heads change AND they are in the animation. What i dont want to see are repaints for teh sake of it, ie a red BB as cliffjumper and no CJ in teh animation, why? well, more toys is good toys yes?? well not if repaints clog shelves and reduce interesting new output.Tekka wrote:I want repaints. =( I know I definitely want my Skywarp repaint anyway.

I second that (non animated moulds) I hate it when hasbro does that, like the crappy/average cybertron/energon moulds into the movie line, sure its more toys for kids but i reckon it stifles innovation by simply allowing the lazy way out. Im not sure that will happen with animation, im not sure its creators will cheapen or dilute the essence of the show/toys, well i hope not anyway.
what i waant to see is an honest to goodness cartoon/toy tie in where character is all and $$ sucking repaints are seen as cheap.

Re: animated toy hopes and fears
id like to run a little experiment when animated toys are a plenty. get a few 6-8 year olds, give em a box of animated toys and a box of movie toys in vehicle mode and see what happens.
id be interested to see which toys the are more drawn to, which ones they transform the easiest without asking grandma to help (and even grandma can figure out barricade or BB 08).

Hopes? I wouldn't mind seeing the return of some cool, new, freshly-designed combiners. I also hope the Dinobots are pulled off well (it looks that way).
Fears? That I'll run out of $$ before I can snag them all...

Hopes:
Thunder Cracker and Sky Warp are returned/introduced into the show and they each have their own different jet forms.
Perceptor & Reflector are brought back.
Fears:
Too many human characters introduced.
Too many stand alone storys.

Now that's something I'll go for. I really want Skywarp back as a proper character. He hasn't been in anything since Beast Wars II.Starscreams bad comedy wrote:Hopes:

What I really hope for is for him to be some kind of martial arts themed character like Prowl. Then the two of them can have long drawn out teleporting ninja battles. That would be sweet.

Hopes
That Hasbro don't stiff those of us in the UK like they usually do.
That I have enough money for all the figures from this line and Universe that I want.
That each Animated toy is a real robot, and at night they will sneak out of their owners' homes and locate all the people who seem to have no purpose in life other than posting stupidly over-the-top comments about how much they hate Animated, then set fire to those people's testicles.
That the toys are more solid than the Movie toys.
That Hasbro resist the urge to start adding dumbass gimmicks to the line.
Fears
That Hasbro stiffs those of us in the UK like they usually do.
That some of the toys will be fragile as a result of following the Animated "look."
Minicons. JUST SAY "NO," Hasbro.

UK prices are pretty bad, literally twice the price of the states, $10 here feels like way less than 10 uk pounds does there 9ie teh price of a delux toy).
i dont mind gimmicks if they add to the playability for kids, energon linkers: yes, minicons: maybe, cyber keys: NO!

Re: animated toy hopes and fears
It's not the price I object to (economics isn't as clear cut as "you pay $10, we pay £10, therefore we're getting ripped off"), it's the generally poor distribution in this country. Admittedly, with Classics and the Movie lines, things seemed to have improved, so hopefully I won't end up importing too much of what I want.

I second this. Specially that bit about parts locking in place. Few things are more frustrating than a alt mode that won't quite lock together.
Also I'm not totally against gimmicks, but my hope is that rather than across the board gimmicks like we had in the past, they'll do gimmicks that are unique to individual characters.
There's one human villain called 'Headmaster' for instance. My hope is that he combines with a robot, to make a one-off homage to the old Headmasters.
I also hope they'll show more of the human reaction to the transformers, which was one of the things that worked in the movie. And also flesh out the human world so that it has a certain amount of reality we can relate to.
My fear is that they'll waste our time on too many rubbish human villains along the lines of the Angry Archer.

correct on the economics but in the UK i could get 4 pints of excellent pub beer for 10 pounds but in the US id only get approx UK 2 pints of rather poorer pub beer for $10. as i balance Tf with beer seems in the uk im harder hit.
