I picked up the Evolution of a Hero Bumblebee 2 pack last night at Target, and since I already had a 76 Bumblebee I experimented a bit to see if the dark smudges and dirt that were on it would come off easily.
I used a folded paper towel and some 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and the dirty airbrushed smudges on 76 BB wiped right off with no problems or elbow grease at all. It really came right off with less then 10 swipes.
Since the 76 turned out so well, (*it looks pretty kickass now that it's clean) I decided to try it on the 08 BB and it worked just as well.
Some exceptions on 08:
His doors are painted, so be extremely careful you don't take the yellow paint too, lighty wipe 'just' the dark smudge and it will come off.
The Silver paint did not come off, but it really doesn't look bad, it's that awful black that was making him fugly.
also I couldn't get into the grill to clean off his headlight, and they painted over one of them. But a little bit of silver paint will fix the headlight.
There are some slight scratches on the hood, (*they all had this, not just mine, I looked in the store) but other then the slight scratches, and the little bits of silver here and there, he's now a 'clean' 08 Bumblebee, and he looks a hell of a lot better.
Just thought I'd post the tip in case anyone, (like me) really want's a clean 08 BB but can only find the battle damaged version.
*pics soon*

it didn't look busted though, just random splotches of black airbrushing. Hell half of his head was black.
Just stupid looking. Battle damage should be battle DAMAGE, not just a couple quick spritzes of paint here and there.
He looks soooooo much better in my Autobot lineup now.

Nice clean up there.
Just goes to show how lazy and dodgy Hasbro's paint apps are to begin with.
