Blackout question

Ok, I had problems with my last blackout, and premium is looking great. But I have one question. The transforming him to bot mode, can you pull out the plates connected to the arm fully, and easily pivot them, or have to bend them up, against the plastic?

I'll have to check mine when I get home, but I've never had any trouble. To my recollection, he transforms relatively easily, no major pressure or strength needed.
