Overview:
Groove was an online only release which I picked up from Amazon. Messed up package withstanding I was pretty impressed with the guy even with the now famous Combiner Wars visible hand syndrome. Now I do have the legends version and for scale issues the legends is a better figure. But who cares about scale, this is transformers and Groove is a leg. Groove came in at 16.99 when I purchased him.
Articulation:
Groove comes in at around 5 ½ inches tall when in robot mode and about 5 inches from tail light to head lights in alt mode. Articulation is pretty standard as far as Combiner Wars figures go. Arm range gives you 90 degrees at the shoulder with a full 360 degrees of unhindered rotation. At the elbow you have a 90 degree bend and there is a lack of wrist swivel. The elbow is ratcheted and the shoulder is on a ball joint.
The head is on a ball joint with limited up and down movement and full 360 degree rotation. The hips are also on a ball joint with 90 degree range to the side, forward, and back. A thigh swivel is present with a full 90 degree bend at the knee. The figure does lack ankle tilt.
Build Quality:
Build quality is pretty good. Plastic does seem solid. The one place I would caution you to use care is with the front tire swivel. The struts seem to be made of a softer plastic.
Paint Applications:
Groove is traditionally a mostly white figure. But the paint apps are well placed. The head and tail lights are painted silver and red respectively. Forearm and shoulder are painted with nice silver and you have silver accents on the thigh. Face has a nice orange paint with the helmet painted in black on the front side.
The figure also has police tampographed on the sides above the rear tires and Autobot symbols on the chest and windshield. Last the chest and waist is covered in a bronzish color. In alt mode the wheels are painted silver.
Accessories:
The figure comes with three accessories. Two pistols and a hand/foot gun are included. The hand/foot gun is the same piece that is included with the Combiner Wars helicopter molds. The guns are clear plastic painted silver with a red siren on the rear. The guns are new molds and a pretty nice.
Transformation:
Transformation is Combiner Wars copter mold faire with a few twists. The legs fold up the same as your Vortex or Alpha Bravo. Arms tuck under and fold under the chest and the wheel rotates and folds over the head. The transformation is simple smooth parts move the way you would expect them to.
