this preorder character crap is stupid.

Well get used to it, which I'm surprised you haven't already, because nearly every major game does it.

I don't buy lots of games, but I do remember Halo Reach preorders unlocked a type of armor, Gears 2 preorders unlocked a golden weapon,...

But getting a specific character to me seems like a different ballgame. I mean, Sideswipe was in the 2nd movie, and now in the 3rd, and you only get to play with him in multiplayer if you preorder from a specific store??? Come on... that's very lame, and it was stupid in War for Cybertron too.

I know why this happens... it's to get people to (1) buy the game new and (2) get them to preorder from a specific store.

I know why it happens, and I am kinda used to preorder "perks", but that doesn't mean I have to like it nor do I have to find the Transformers games preorder stuff comparable to Halo's or Gears'.

Sideswipe was barely in the movies. We're not talking about Optimus or Megatron here, we're talking about someone who had zero impact on the story and got what, three lines total? If it weren't for those three lines he'd basically be a background character, like Jolt, actually.

You're thinking about this the wrong way entirely. You're assuming way too much for someone who is, in all likelihood, basically going to be an extra skin. Think about WfC; what exactly did Jazz, Shockwave, and Demolishor do in multiplayer? They had no special effects in multiplayer, and I'm willing to bet they had nothing special about them in Escalation either.

And this is easily comparable to Halo and Gears' preorder bonuses. It has no major impact on the game, and it's just there to show you preordered it. Which is entirely the point.

Actually, Sideswipe had 4 lines in ROTF. "Clear a path!" "Damn I'm good." "What is the meaning of this?" "Sam, I've spotted Sam!!!" (Gets shot). So, he had more lines than Jolt. Ratchet only got like 3 lines in ROTF.

You'll play multiplayer more than the story/campaign... well that's what normal people do. So you'll be playing as Sideswipe where it matters.

I do see him in the preview playing that Gamespot did as an NPC, but I really want to play him.
