do you guys actually prefer the package to boxed in robot or vehicle mode. ex if it's boxed in vehicle, i have to transform it, if not we don't have to do it so eagerly.

I hate it when i get stuff in bot mode. #1 I want to transform it, #2 alt mode is usualy more solid for shipping purposes.

Agree with Sloptank. I got both Final Battle Jazz (bot mode) & Arcee (alt mode) in the last two days, Arcee I got out the box in around a minuet (I'm careful with it all, I hate ripping anything, part of my Obsessive Compulsive). Jazz took me, for exactly the same process, around 2 minuets, thats double the time just for a few more bits of plastic.
Yea ok, thats not much of a difference but for me it's a minuet of twisting & turning those little pieces of pure annoyage just so I don't rip anything, for absolutely no reason!!!
Oh well, just goes to show that Arcee's easier to get out of things than Jazz *wink wink*

Alt mode. - at least when you open it up, it's ready for display purposes, unlike Robot mode where the first time you transform it to the Alt mode, you get less than stellar results, with the panels not aligning and all.
all the comments above are the HUMBLE OPINIONS of the said user only. 'nuff sed.

Whatever mode is smaller (more often than not, that is ALt mode).
Less twist ties, less stick tape, less wasted packaging.

Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

typically-alt mode with some exceptiont. Robovision prime is a good example. I can enjoy him in bot mode still in his plastic prison. much more appealing than his truck mode.

Being A HHC (Half&Half collector).
I like Robot mode all the way
I would open and buy way less if they were in robot mode.
I collect robots not cars trucks and planes
Clusterprime
I like the way they look more than I care about how they play

Generally alt mode, because of reasons above.
However for MISB I prefer robot mode for some. For example, Robovision Prime, Leader Prime and Final Battle Jazz.

what happen if it's a masterpiece one, i still prefer it in bot mode, because i can then decide to transform it or later.
ex, i heard rumours about transforming megatron will cause a lot of paint scrapings or chippings. but if i transform it delicately or gently, will i avoid the un-necessary scrapings?

when it comes to MP's I agree 100% with how they have been packaged thus far. It is character specific which mode i prefer.
As for megs, couldn't tell you. I've had him since he was released and have never even attempted to transform him.

Robot mode. I like to pick the figure with the best paint job, and it's easier to spot flaws on the bot mode.

Whichever packaging style gets them to my collection shelf first. lol
I kinda like the packed in robot mode feel though, it's a nice touch after all these years of planes, trucks, cars, etc.

I prefer the bot mode, for several reasons. The first, would be is you can kind of get an idea of what kind of Articulation the toy has. The second is you can also see how bad the kibble is on the bot, before you get it home, and tear it out of it's Cardboard Prison.

But you can already see those things from the picture printed behind the box.

For some toys I especially like the surprise of transforming the alt mode to robot. Since that's the mode we are usually introduced to first in movies or comics. For instance, I would have preferred to have Unicron/ Primus in planet mode, so there's more surprise learning which part goes where to expose what. That's the mode we were introduced to first in the movie.

Alt mode, since I enjoy transforming mine when I get the out of the package, and I'm less likely to have to go for the instructions that way. Either that, or I'm just used to them being packaged in alt mode and seing one packed in robot mode seems unusual. That said, I don't feel as strongly about it as some others seem to.

That's not necessarily true. For instance, you can't see the plunger sticking out of Payload's back on his picture. And back in the day we got an honest to goodness artistic interpretation of the figure rather than a snapshot of the actual figure.

That's true. I was shocked to see Payload with a giant dagger sticking out of his back.
