Actually, the Angels are trying to achieve Complementation with ADAM, not Lilith. Tabris said as much once he breached Terminal Dogma. He had no idea what would happen if a Spawn of ADAM attempted to merge with Lilith. Using Lilth's Anti-AT field was part of SEELE's Scenario.

IIRC, the Evas were never supposed to be part of the Red Earth Ceremony, not until Gendo lost the Lance and Shogoki gained an S2 organ. What we saw in EoE was Seele's Plan B.

Yeah, SEELE got lucky that things turn out with such a similar outcome to their own scenario, until Shinji grew a pair halfway through and threw a wrench in the works...

Yeah, Rei III gained the memories of Rei II, and remembered how much she cared for Shinji.

I am beyond curious to see Gendo's scenario play out fully. Besides bringing Yui back, I don't think they went into any other details. Like the state of life on earth, and the exacts on how it would finish. Instrumentality style? Some form of annihilation? I'd like to see this addressed in the new movie series.
