well he technically died in the first movie as we are told later in that movie that no one survived the attack from the beginning, so that explains why he's a different character come Part 2.

but while its been a while since i've seen it, i swear he's in Part 3 as well. like somewhere in the background during some of the "homebase" stuff. maybe i'm wrong but yeah.

He's in DOTM, too. He was the one who established that nothing could get through the ring of Decepticon ships over Chicago.
