Keeping Packages and Boxes
do you guys still keep the packaging after you open a toy, or do you trash it?

Most of my older figures came from ebay, so no packaging.
I have kept my re-issues and Japanese figures boxes, and packaging entirely intact, and from Armada/Universe onwards I have at least kept the tech specs and character art.
I decided to keep the entire backing cards/back panel of larger figures (plus any tech specs and character art on other panels) from the Classics line onwards, as it required less cutting and effort on my behalf, and looks alot nicer too.
I keep all my instructions in a Cybertron leader Prime box, which is kept (along with all the card backs, tech specs and character art) inside the Cybertron Primus box, which in turn in housed in a storage tub.
Takes up far less room than keeping every single box, but allows me to keep the info of a character.

I've been debating over the same question too. The movie brought me back to TF collection & reclaiming my childhood toys. Within the past 3 weeks I ran stores and shop online, now I already have 42 TF toys and still counting, like your other post mentioned, this gotta slow down, but I know I soon will as I'm about done with the movie line now.
Now I'm looking for a floor standing glass display cabinet(s) to put all my toys, and whether to keep the boxes is a big question I eventually have to face too. I like to keep all boxes if possible, but if space doesn't allow, I will just keep the product cards and throw away the blister bubbles (deluxe, scout and legends classes). Perhaps buying a bigger house will solve the problem. Hey!

I've always kept the techspecs of my transformers and gi joe, and put them in a scrapbook. I've also collected most of the "box art" and put them in a garbage bag.. I've taken it off of my attic last week to check what was actually inside.
Of the new toys? I keep everything. most of them stay in the box (mp's, alternators etc.) I've unpacked the movie toys, classics and a 20th anniv prime to work with.

Well sometimes then after a while when I've seen the nice toy pictures I throw it away. But my Unleashed Bumblebee... what i have done to make it look more stylish is that I cut the bit in side which shows a nice Bumblebee picture with a red and black stripe background with a red Autobot sign on it (those who have it will know what I mean) and what I've done is then curve it up (well it was already curved because Unleashed Bumblebee box is curved into a cylinder) and place it right behind the sculpture. This made it stand out more.

Ah, I struggle with this all the time as I have waaaaay too many boxes stored away. But theres the problem. They are stored away and chances are I will never see them unless I decide to sell something.
However, I do recognize that at some point, my collectyion will be sold. Whehter it is by me or by an heir, it is only a matter of time. And when that time comes, those boxes will make the collection much more valuable.
But, sooo many damn boxes.
The worst are the boxes the statues come in. They are HUGE.

Out of 500+ figures I only kept the TFCC Exclusive Astrotrain and Airazor boxes, a box to BW x9 Ravage, and the boxes for Brave Max, MP Megatron and MP Starscream.
In general I do not save boxes. No room and I prefer to display toys out of the box.

I keep most of them. I only use two shelves to display my figs, so they are always in rotation. When they are not on display they are put away. The NW corner of my room is just a pile of boxes and whatnot. If it is a Blister card, I recycle the palstic and keep the cardback. Then pack the fig away with others of the kind.

I am considerably lucky in that department.
I have the whole of our country house loft to my self, so I black bag em in series and put em up there for storage.
I have most of the Cybertron boxes still, but I threw away most, or all of, my Armada, RiD and Energon boxes.
I keep any and all boxes nowadays though.
Who knows? Maybe someone will want them one day?

I have kept all the boxes of the ones that I have opened. No brainer really. Makes it easier to store them away if I do not want to display them anymore.

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

I keep all of mine. They are part of the toy IMO. I open each one with surgical like precision to make sure i keep the box in perfect condition. I dont flatten them either. They take up a crapload of space but thats what spare bedrooms are for.

I don't keep the boxes or packaging for the same reasons as everyone else - space. However I may start keeping the tech specs and bios. Once I get a bigger display unit the bios and specs would be great to display with the fig.
Kudos to those who do have the space and patience to keep that extra stuff tho.

Like @Sonray, I take special care in unboxing my toys to keep the box in excellent condition. I even save the wires, pieces of small plastics with holes and rubber bands.
