If you own or have ever owned the original gorills optimus Primal toy or any of the rereleases/recolors, you would know that his arms were gimmicked to rotate/spin, and move in & out.
What I would like to do is kit-bash him by removing the inside parts that make the gimmick work to make his arms move freely.
BUT, I'm not an expect on kit-bashing, and I don't want to do anything to the figure that I would regret, so I'm asking for help.
Btw, I would like to keep the switch on his back in place so he doesn't have a hole in his back, also, I would not like to have to glue anything when doing this so please make sure no glue is required, and this is Hasbro's 10th Anniv. Toys'r'us figure fyi.

this probably won't get locked, and maybe a nice MOd will move it to the Kitbash forum for you, i know the toys forum seems like the likely spot and it's pretty much the most popular forum in this place, but the Kitbash section has allot of fans who just hang out there who can really help...

The arms have little switches under theshoulder fur pannels to turn that off.
They flow relativly freely then and hold position real well, but there is some gear grindage that you'll hear.

Really?
I never knew, because I hated the rotation too.

What he said, and just so you know about those switches, fiddle with them enough, and he'll beat his shoulder blades instead of his chest, or both at the same time
Play with him and you'll find the right setting.
And it is funny when when you move one arm and the other goes spinning off. Not as coola as Disney's "Rad Repeating Tarzan" but pretty funny still.
However if you balance the switches right, you'll be fine.

No. I know about the switches, I want all the gears and stuff on the inside removed, so that the whole gimmick is removed, so that I can willingly move his arms like a regular transformers figure.
And thanks for telling me about the kit-bash forum, but how do I move this topic to there?
And I'm only a noob to the forums, not the site.

PM one of the Mods (they're listed at the top of the forum page) and ask them to move it.
As for your question.
There's four screws on Primal's back. Taking them out SHOULD open him up. Seeing as you want the gimmick removed completely, i'd go on a butchering spree and rip out anything associated with it, making sure though that the arms can still be connected of course.
As far as the switch goes, I know you said you didn't want to use glue however the best option may be to work it into place (you may need to trim it down so it fits snuggly) and then glue it.
Because i'm guessing once you remove all the gimmick nuts and bolts, there won't be anything holding it in place.
Your other option is to fill the hole in with something like putty.
Personally i'd try to glue the switch back into place as it has all that lovely molding detail.
Hope that helps.

I think in that instance you gonna have to do some serious reworking of the mechanism internally and fix it so there is a ratchet typ system to move the arms so when you remove the gears for the gimmick the arms aren't floppy...

you would have to PM and ask a Moderator to move this discussion to the Kitbash section..

No worries, I'm not sure how the term "Noob" became associated with a Negative conotation, but I was merly stating that as a fact that on the forums your new, and welcoming you.. I too was familiar with the site before I would post in threads.. it's not a bad thing..so again welcome!! It's always nice to have new People (Noob) here to discuss topics with..

Well I don't want ALL the arm gimmicks removed. I want to keep the spring-loaded flail door on his right arm and pop-out guns on his left arm and back. I just want the gimmick that the lever on his back and the switches on his shoulders removed.
And, is glue really neccessary to keep the lever in place without the said-gimmick stuff?
All I want is for him to have free arm movement like a regular figure, but the gimmick restricts that, which is why I want it removed.
