1.) Fireball in pool/Protoform Ironhide.

2.) Fireball in field/Protoform Optimus Prime.

3.) Fireball in Baseball field/Protoform Jazz.

4.) Fireball in Diner parking lot/Protoform Ratchet.

Megatron is still in his Cybertronian design, he never took an Earth form. (I'm not even sure you'd call that a Protoform either.)

I'm thinking they took to protoform mode for space travel. Megatron didn't need to because he's simply that bad ass.
