So one came before Optimus with barely getting notice while the other is likely built after Optimus with barely glimpsing out of OP's shadow. From G1 80s Toon to todays G1 Animated reboot, how would these two autobot leaders match up in each of the respective series, comics included?

I think the IDW versions would be the main event

G1 Comic: Ultra Magnus
Animated: Ultra Magnus
IDW: Sentinel Prime (without Apex armor)

Primes usually have a weapon or ability that beat anyone else. Failing that, they have greater wisdom. Failing that, they have shutdown codes. There's a chance that SP still has a valid shutdown code for UM. However, it might have been changed for OP's leadership.

SP might have an easy way to beat UM, such as hidden weapons in his HQ. Without that, he should have the strength and firepower to put up a good fight. UM is exceptional though. He's built to take out problematic opponents. If SP doesn't stop him right away, UM could win. It all comes down to the situation.
