TF Exodus Novel
Is it supposed to tie in with the live action movies, cartoon, video games, or what?

The way I understand it, it's a part of the same continuity family as War for Cybertron and Transfromers Prime. It expands on a lot of the details in War for Cybertron and serves as a general backstory for Prime in conjunction with it. However, not all of the details of the 3 line up exactly, like the effects of Dark Energon, for instance. I kind of see it in the same way that the movies and the novel and comic adaptations there of relate to each other, essentially being broad strokes. (TV Tropes explains the concept pretty well here.)

It is officially connected to the War for Cybertron video games and the current Prime cartoon.
It tells the same basic story as the PS3/XBox 360/PC version of War for Cybertron, and then some, expanding on the games story with more depth and earlier events.
It also serves as the "ancient history" lore of the Prime cartoon, taking place eons ago in the distant past while the Prime cartoon is set in the present day. As this continuity is currently still growing, there are millions and millions of years of history between the book/games and the cartoon, which will all be told over time.
Though there do exist some contradictions between the Prime cartoon and the WFC games/Exodus novel, none of them are irreconcilable.
