I wondered if there is news or if you suspect there will be re-releases or new releases of the Movie 86 range next year?
I cancelled my 86 Megatron order at the last minute after seeing everyone's photos and I really don't like the painted legs. I'll stick with my MP for now. But I hope there will be an updated version with all the same grey plastic. I'm also hoping for a release of Hot Rod. Perhaps Radimus Prime is coming?
Am I right there is a version of Optimus with the trailer too?
Anyway, I still have the latest release of Grimlock on pre-order. I saw the G2 dinobots, and wouldn't mind a 20th boxset of all five in their original grey and transparent neck plastic.

Yes, Target is getting a 40th Anniversary Studio Series 86 line (alongside many regular retail SS86 figures). They'll probably be repainted like their other SS86 exclusives were, but they could also be repacks like they've done with the regular SS reissues.
Known figures:
Deluxe Hound
Deluxe Prowl
Voyager Scourge
Voyager Hot Rod
Voyager Starscream (new SS86 mold)
Leader Megatron
Leader Optimus Prime
Deluxe Insecticon 3-pack
Wouldn't be surprising if they do more, these listings came from three different leaks.

The 20th anniversary was 2006. I don't think we got too many releases specifically celebrating it at that time, since it fell during the awkward gap between the end of the Cybertron line and the deferred launch of the toys for the first Bay movie. But Hot Rod was included in the Classics line, and there was effectively an early celebration the previous year in the form of a G1 Galvatron reissue.
Assuming you meant 40th, yes there will be celebratory rereleases. Definitely. Maybe we can actually get SS86 Hot Rod in magenta, now that the screen colors reissue has finally bulldozed that wall in HasTak's head.
Obviously, they couldn't just cheekily turn a Walther P38 upside-down and call it a submarine like with Sixshot's gun mode. But maybe they could have turned it on its side with wheels or treads added where needed & turned the muzzle into a small cockpit.
At the very least, I would have liked a tank transformation that preserved the G1 toy's upper body transformation as much as possible so that the Walther barrel wouldn't need to partsform.

Where was that creativity when developing SS86 Megs?Jelze Bunnycat wrote:megatran wrote:This Megatron better turn into a toy gun.²

haha wow my maths was SO off lol, I think I saw 20th anniversary somewhere and didn't question it but you are of course right, it's the 40th anniversary! I am old. Perhaps it was just wishful thinking.
I'm really looking forward to a Hot Rod reissue, that's the one I want the most.
