I'd imagine if the CC figure was another Optimus, the differences between this one and earthrise would be like the differences between mp10 and the latest mp Prime. More toon accuracy, better engineering, better trailer, that sort of thing. And I'd be all for that. ER Prime is good, but leaves something to be desired. The recent holiday Prime has a more toon looking Prime head than the ER one I think

Considering that the Commander class toy is of Armada Optimus, it rightly shouldn't look anything like G1 Optimus at all.

Yes, 100% sure, TRU is more reasonable (aka closer to a normal price) on Buzzworthy multipacks.

So far, only the Generations 4 pack and the SS 2 packs followed that pattern. The Cyberverse deluxes 3 packs are another story, jumping the previous 30$CAN a deluxe to 40$CAN a deluxe.

While I can understand it being SS-86 Magnus, part of me wonders if Hasbro isn't doing an actual SS-86 Prime in Commander Class. By all accounts Earthrise Prime is pretty much SS-86 Prime, but one can argue the same thing about Kingdom Magnus.

I slightly disagree. The mechanics of Prime and Magnus would be different, if either or both were done in commander class. Prime would still be Prime (Probably wouldn't even change the base bot, it's pretty spot-on) but the trailer would be spruced up a lot, to the point it would function as his death bed from the infamous movie scene.

Magnus on the other hand would be a bigger, better, G1-ified CW Magnus, where the trailer would not separate from the cab, it would just all transform together. With a trailer that's actually big enough to carry the deluxe cars. That kind of engineering and parts count would warrant the commander price.

Having said that, I still like Kingdom Magnus very much and he's currently on my movie shelf, but he needs to be taller to be in accurate scale with everyone else.

A commander Magnus would make sense as a pretool to the next Powermaster Prime, assuming Hasbro doesn't feel that the market is saturated with Armada Prime on the way.

I still think a proper Astrotrain can be achieved in commander class. The higher price point would help both the design and the scale.

Magnus is really the only one that makes sense. Astrotrain is a possibility, but I just can’t see them going more expensive than Blitzwing for him, and the Siege mold is still there and is o.k. Not great, but passable.

That's the one, yep! Only Mini-Cons whose names I can actually remember are Leader-1, Over-Run, and Run-Over, and the last two are just because I know they came with Bendy and Nemesis, just need to think which is more evil sounding

Hence my suggestion of either or both SS86 Prime and a new Powermaster Prime. Regardless of which way they design Magnus (with or without white Prime inside) there can be an Optimus made out if it. With PM Prime they would have to cheat a bit in order to make the cab separate from the trailer, and the trailer have to be retooled, but it can be done, pretty much like Galaxy Prime came from Siege Magnus.

Yeah, 2 good modes out of 3 is what we can expect at leader prices (the train mode for Astrotrain and the jet mode for Blitzwing are both giant failures) but I firmly believe that at commander price we would've gotten better engineering and a decent 3rd mode even if the figure itself stayed the same size.

I agree that it's a big ask by Hasbro, but if it's not Astrotrain, then who else? It has to be Magnus, unless it is indeed SS86 Optimus with a snazzy trailer. And if it was Magnus, technically it would count as a new figure with a new mold, whereas all the Magnus versions you mentioned came from the same mold with slight variations.

That's exactly what I'm expecting. We've never had a Commander before that shared parts from a previous figure from another price class before.

Man, nothing scrambles your brain quite like Christmas! At that point I'd only slept a total of nine hours since Thursday, worked Saturday night, and still had four more hours to go before I could get any decent sleep (5 whole hours, wheeee!), and now I'm leaving for work again.
