How in the world is that going to work? Walmart selling a realistic toy gun? It didn't appear to have a blaze orange tip. We've been lucky to have been under the radar so far with online specialty stores and the like. That's one thing but Walmart, being as high profile as they are, trying to sell Megatron in stores seems like it's going to create future headaches for everyone else down the road. It's going to hit the fan once some PTA group or high profile lawyer looking to make a name for themself finds out.
Also, I noticed that they are gouging the hell out of the prices on all their Encore figures, not just Megatron. Some of the Encores are priced for about two times the amount that many online stores are currently charging.

I was thinking just the thing! A US corporate monster selling things not in compliance with current laws, much less WAL-MART, the overzealous family-friendly store. It's bizarre, but then again, it's online.
Props to whoever finds the thing in-store, if that's even possible.
blah blah blah signature quoting something pointless durr

That's totally weird. I just checked out the link and it said not available online, limited supply in stores only, and now it shows that it is available on the website. Technically it is available in store because they offer site to store. It's still weird that Walmart has decided that they don't give a damn about the law. Then again, as it has been my experience with the Walmart stores in my area, they also don't give a damn about the customers or cleanliness, but people still continue to do repeat business with them so apparently they are invincible, don't need to abide by business ethics, and are now above the law.

QFT! Who cares how they are selling them, $100 is a rip when you can grab one from ebay for $70

Saw it in local wal mart today.
Its not a big deal as some people on here make it out to be, and its over priced.

Don't Wal-mart sell actual guns though?
(bear in mind please that I'm an ignorant foreigner and going solely on information and perception supplied by the media-so don't hate the player if I'm incorrect)

assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Don't get me wrong, it isn't that big a deal. I was only reacting to how Walmart bills themselves as a family friendly business. This is the same company that refuses to sell CDs with explicit lyrics among other forms of censorship they impose on companies that wish to sell their products in Walmart stores.
It surprises me that they are willingly and knowingly selling a realistic toy gun that doesn't conform to the the 1988 Federal law. You also have to factor in city ordinances and local laws. Has anyone ever checked out some of NYC's strict legislature on toy guns? They have to be certain bright colors, made of transparent or translucent materials, have a closed barrel, and the name of the toy company printed on the side of the barrel. Encore Megatron complies with none of those 1999 ammendment restrictions and as a matter of fact, is able to fire projectiles. Even the airsoft guns Walmart carries typically have clear plastic and are painted bright orange on the end of the barrel.
Yes, Walmart does sell guns but those are shotguns and rifles and they sell them legally. Again, I'm not necessarily trying to make it out to be a big deal. I only find it funny that Walmart bullies manufacturers into conforming to their standards or threatens them that their product will not be be carried in their stores but for this product they are foregoing the law. It's also funny that while they are at it, the self proclaimed "Low Price Leader" is charging at least double the price of many other online stores who have the Encore figures ready to ship.

Ironic yes, and also annoying.
I mean, isn't this law the reason why Classics Megatron had to be a green and orange Nerf gun in the first place?

Yes, exactly. Also, so dumb kids or adults won't go aiming this at people in public or so dumbasses won't hold up 7-11 with Megatron. The NYC laws started because police accidentally shot people with realistic looking toy guns. At a distance you can't tell.
Also, how are police supposed to get close enough to check the rub sign to see if it is a bad guy gun or a good guy gun?

That's an injustice to Classics Megatron.
Naw, the greatest in justice to Megatron happened back in the 80s when whatever wanker was in charge said, "Hey, you know what would be cool? If we make the most powerful character in the universe transform into a Walther P 38."

But isn't the Walther P38 the most powerful gun in the... man, I can't even finish that sentence without laughing.

I have not idea how powerful a P38 is. But the big joke here is to make Megatron a gun. And Soundwave a cassette recorder. And Blaster a boombox. And Perceptor a microscope. And Reflector a camera. And...
