i have been giving this a bit of thought altely people

assuming that we ever find a true cure to the aids virus i got a question

is there any chance that a version of it could eventually be made to exist in such a way that one could eventually use it as a way to effectively reverse any and all changes made to their body, their bloodstgream and their immunity system?

that is to say could it eventually be used by a person as a way for that person to decide for their self wether they will or will not rid their body of the acquired immunity so as to give their immunity system the chance for that person to develope natural immunity in its place?

Ignoring the use of AIDS, I still have to question what person would give up an immunity to a virus, and then subject themselves to it, just to become immune to it again.

I think you've misunderstood the concept of a natural immunity.

Any time you're exposed to harmful bacteria and antibodies are produced, that is an acquired immunity.

A natural immunity suggests that the organism doesn't need an immune response in the first place. That being the case, I don't believe that a retrovirus could cause the type of changes necessary to remove a natural immunity from a complex organism.

if such a thing were possible in the present day speaking for myself i would go through with it if only out of a desire to develope natural immunity for myself in my making my own choice on the matter of my own free will

when it comes to the very idea of a person as a adult deciding to rid their body of the acquired immunity they were made to develope as a child one possible reason could be for that person to do so if only so that the person theirself could as a adult have a active say in either giving or refusing their informed consent on the matter ofrefusing to develop acquired immunity and choosing of their own fee will to acquire natural immunity instead in its place

it all comes down to being a case of free choice and free will or rather a severe lack of said free chocie in the matter when it comes to the person in question doing this as a way to have the final word on the matter in deciding the matter of their own free will as a honestly and nonbiasedly well informed adult

I don't like having to be so blunt, but that is an awful idea. What does free will have to do with any of this? You're immune either way, does it really matter HOW you're immune? Do you really need to cause possibly irreparable damage to yourself just to become immune on your terms? The viruses you need a vaccine to prevent (Which is what I assume you're talking about here) are the kinds that kill you. Just be thankful you don't get sick.

Wow that is one of the strangest things I've ever heard.

I'm all for freedom of choice n'nat but I think what you're suggesting is a bit extreme.

Like Shadow said, if you're already immune why try to take that immunity away just to possibly get infected again to build a new immunity... and with alot of diseases choice doesn't really come into it, you just get it. Worse if you do get it again there's always a slight chance it'll mutate enough to infect someone else.

I really can't see any good reason to do what you're suggesting even if it was possible.
