The future of Heavy Metal War

Hey everyone,
There have been a lot of things going on behind the scenes with HMW during the month of April 2007. As some of you might already know, Glyph is no longer on the staff. There were some things that happened behind the scenes that ultimately made it so that we had to part ways finally. Glyph is a great guy and one of the nicest people I've talked to from this site. I wish him and his family the best. Hopefully we can keep him around as part of the Seibertron.com community.
On that note, I think many of you are aware that we already have a new programmer working on Heavy Metal War. He has a slew of incredible ideas that have really gotten me excited about the future of this game. I think we should all give a big round of applause to the new HMW programmer ... OMEGA SENTINEL!!! His vision and ideas will bring about a new age in Heavy Metal War that this community truly deserves.
Omega Sentinel and I have had several conversations over the past few weeks regarding ideas for HMW. I am really excited that the game will finally be on track to do the things I had originally envisioned back in May 2003 when Vir4030 and I came up with the idea for HMW over lunch one afternoon. OS and I seem to share a similar vision for what HMW should have been all along and where it should be in the future. I believe at last, we will be able to have the one dream that I've had for this game which is to be able to battle for territories on Cybertron. OS has shared a lot of other ideas with me about HMW that sound really cool as well but I'll let him unveil his ideas to the general community when he's ready.
Like myself, Omega Sentinel is a professional programmer. We both program projects that are more complex than HMW at our respective jobs for real world clients. Omega Sentinel gets HMW and how it should be. If you're at all skeptical about this new direction for HMW, then I hope my level of excitement about the game helps calm your concerns. This is really the first time that I've been excited about HMW in about 3 years. I can't wait until you guys see some of the features executed that we've discussed behind the scenes. Many of these features were long, long overdue and, at last, they will finally see the light of day. Thank Primus!
We are going to shake some things up around here. I think the ultimate prize will be worth it. HMW should NOT be some small sub-part of Seibertron.com that continues to dwindle in traffic. It should be the largest part of Seibertron.com with thousands of people playing every day. Heck, it should be bigger than that even!
All that I ask is that you guys trust our decisions and stick with us through all of these changes. The end result will be very awesome and we will end up with a version of HMW unlike anything we've seen before here on Seibertron.com.
Welcome aboard, Omega Sentinel. You are a very welcome addition to the Seibertron.com family.

Sounds great, and I'm really appreciative of everything you guys do and this new progres that is being made.
Is it possible to get a preview of some of these things you're talking about? I feel that keeping us well-informed and feeling like we're part of this whole thing may help ease the transition for a player base that has a tendency to be a bit stuck in their ways at times.

the thing with previews is that, once it's given people expect it, and if it isn't implemented soon, people moan, granted most of us have learnt extreme patient under Glyph's tenure, perhaps a lack of preview will be a good thing.
expect nothing, and then if we get Gestalts/masters/Triplechanger/minicons/ energonchips/cyberkeys/dolly parton/the kitchen sink/whatever, it'll be all the more sweet.

After reading the news item about the new game like HMW, I was afraid this was going to be bad news. I for one, am glad it not!
I don't think I've been this excited about the game in a while either.

The new version should be awesome. Like Tammuz said, if we don't expect stuff, when we get it it will be even better, and on the other side to that we won't be disappointed if it never shows. Can't wait to see what happens.

Sounds Good. This is a great game and of course addictive.
Now just program some of these flashing ads to have some subliminal messages to make people play even more.

Bonus. I wondered where I packed that.

It's nice to know that Ryan's happy with the game's existence. Everybody who was on the forums before I came along tells me he wanted to end the game at one point.

I vote for a complete redo for Heavy Metal War. The current game is...fine, but it's also very old. It would be nice to see something entirely new, and I wouldn't mind giving up my bots to start from scratch again.
